Jesus died at the age of 33,
a tragic death on the cross

Jesus faced persecution, many people sought to destroy him, and finally they succeeded and nailed him to the cross.

Jesus left behind an example, that people should only do what is right in the sight of GOD, even at the peril of death.

All the essays below are written with Mormons in mind. Therefore, if you haven't read the Book of Mormon, you may find it difficult.

A. Hear both sides of the story, not just one side.

The Whitmers have written books,

(1) "An Address to All Believers in Christ", by David Whitmer
(2) "History of the Church", by John Whitmer (much of the first part of the book may be skipped, but the last part is a must read for those who wish to know the truth of the matter)

B. Hear what an insider said

The "Danites" were a secret army under Joseph Smith and the early Church leaders. John D. Lee was one of the Danites, and he became the adopted son of Brigham Young after the death of JS. He was later put to death because he killed many Mormons migrating from California to Utah, through the hands of indians, on order from the Church, (Mount Meadow Massacre). He dictated his autobiography before his death.

He gave detailed account of the Church from the earliest day onto the death of the Smiths onto the move to Utah. ("Autobiography of John D. Lee")

You may forget John D. Lee's book at the moment, but the books by the Whitmers should be read by all who wish to know the truth of the matter. Hear both sides, not just from one side.

C. Many good Christians failed before. No one in infallible

King Saul was anointed by LORD, yet he killed all the LORD's prophets. [1 Samuel 22]

Balaam was a good prophet whom LORD talked with face to face, yet he went with the Moabites to curse the Israelites, and later got killed. [Numbers 22, 23, 24, 31:8]

King Solomon was much loved by the LORD and LORD told David that the kingdom should be passed to him, yet he got for himself 1000 concubines and worshipped all foreign gods - he worshipped Milcom, Chemosh, Molech. [1 King 11]

Johoash was a good king when Jehoiada the priest was alive, but after the death of Jehoiada, he killed his son. [2 Chronicles 24]

There were recorded in the Bible many good Christians who failed. Even King David murdered Uriah through the hands of the Ammonites. [2 Samuel 11,12] (But David repented deeply and sought LORD's forgiveness [Psalm 51] that he was forgiven.)

I accept the precept "TRUTH AND TRUTH ONLY, WHAT IS RIGHT AND NOT WHO IS RIGHT" - meaning that even if an angel (or prophet) stands before me and speaks nonsense, I would reject it. Even if a sinner stands before me and speaks the truth, I would accept it. I use all the teachings of LORD and Jesus in the Bible as plummet, to measure against all sayings.

I am not anti-Mormon, but it is my opinion that JS fell later in his life.

I am pro-BOM as you may find numerous articles in my homepage promoting BOM.

BOM is a true history of the Maya people from 600 B.C. to 420 A.D., from the time Lehi left Jerusalem to the time the Nephites were all destroyed.

I pointed out the fact that I read the BOM 4 times to mean I LOVE BOM AND THE MESSAGE INSIDE IT. Everytime I read it, I pick up more, and I become more and more familiar with Lehi, Nephi, Jacob, Mormon, Mosiah, Alma, Helaman, Nephi, Moroni, Ether, ... just as the more I read the Bible, the more I become familiar with Abraham, Joseph, Judah, Samuel, David, Ruth, Esther, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, .... (and incidentally, know better LORD and Jesus.)

LDS ex-communicated David Whitmer. Martin Harris remained in Kirtland (he did not move to Utah until very late in his life). He said to William Homer (it was he who brought Martin Harris to Utah), "Young man, I never did leave the Church; the Church left me." The same may be said about the Whitmers, [the Church left them, not that they left the Church.]

David Whitmer wrote a book, "An Address to All Believers in Christ" when he was old, which I think every one should read. HEAR BOTH SIDES OF THE STORY, NOT JUST FROM ONE SIDE, THEN YOU CAN FORM BETTER JUDGEMENT.

Just as many good Christians of old failed, we are all liable to fall. NO ONE IS INFALLIBLE. If you think JS or prophet never fall, you are not of the TRUTH.

GOD = TRUTH; HOLY SPIRIT = SPIRIT OF TRUTH. Therefore "Love the LORD with all our heart, might and soul" = "Love TRUTH with all our heart, might and soul". Have the courage to raise questions, have the courage to find out what really happened. Have the courage to love TRUTH more than our life.

P. S. My motto,

>What is "spiritual-wifeism"?

Simply put, it is polygamy. It appeared in another name, "Principle of Celestial Marriage".

Polygamy, or "having concubines", was not considered wrong in the old days, even in Israel.

But LORD has a distinct will on America. America is to be a land of mono-gamy, America is to be the "New Jerusalem", a new spiritual center.

From BOM [Jacob 2:24-29],

Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord.

Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph.

Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.

Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;

For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.

Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes.

The Mayans (or Nephites) practiced polygamy, amid other whoredoms and Secret Alliance, were cursed and were totally destroyed. The Indians (Lamanites) did not practice polygamy and were preserved.

From BOM [Jacob 3:5-7],

Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not forgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father--that they should have save it were one wife, and concubines they should have none, and there should not be whoredoms committed among them.

And now, this commandment they observe to keep; wherefore, because of this observance, in keeping this commandment, the Lord God will not destroy them, but will be merciful unto them; and one day they shall become a blessed people.

Behold, their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands; and their husbands and their wives love their children; and their unbelief and their hatred towards you is because of the iniquity of their fathers; wherefore, how much better are you than they, in the sight of your great Creator?

How did polygamy come to JS ? From the autobiographies I read : an angel appeared to JS telling him to practice polygamy. He refused. The angel appeared a second time. JS refused too. The angel appeared a third time, with a drawn sword, and threatened JS to practice it or else be killed. JS succumbed. But why did the girls consent to marry JS when many of them knew JS had many wives already? Because that angel appeared to them too, often accompanied with bright light. (From "Autobiography of Lyman Omer Littlefield", "Autobiography of Mary E. Lightner". These biographies may be found in ).

From the Bible, we know that "marry, then divorce, then re-marry" is the same as adultery [Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:11-12]

From the BOM, we know that everyone who live in America must have one wife only, no polygamy or else be cursed.

Now, the question is, if an angel appear before you with a drawn sword and threaten you to do something contrary to Bible teachings or BOM teachings, will you do it ?

There are many demons, devils on this earth.

Satan is one. But there are numerous others. All these demons have GREAT POWER, and they are all trying desperately to ruin the work of LORD, to tempt us and to destroy our soul. (But we are not to fear them, we trust in the saving acts of LORD. LORD will not punish them now. LORD will punish them at the end of the world.)

They may appear as angel of light. They may appear as sheep, but in fact are wolves inside. We will know them by their "fruits".

LORD allows us to be tested, because we are on probation here. Moses plainly said that LORD would test us sometimes,

Moses : "If a prophet arises among you, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder which he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, 'Let us go after other gods,' which you have not known, and 'let us serve them,' you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your GOD with all your heart and with all your soul ..." [Deut 13:1-5]

(Note :

"go after other gods" = "accepting teachings other than LORD's, Jesus'.

"love GOD with all our heart/soul" = "love LORD's teachings with all our heart/soul".)

JS and the girls saw sights, but they did not remember Moses' word, and got tempted and fell.

Therefore our stand should be : everything contrary to the teachings of LORD and of Jesus in the Bible, we reject. TRUTH AND TRUTH ONLY, WHAT IS RIGHT AND NOT WHO IS RIGHT. Teachings of LORD, of Jesus is our PLUMMET, to measure against all teachings of the world. (Incidentally, you will not find teachings in BOM that are contrary to teachings of LORD, of Jesus.)

Therefore, it is my advice that everyone read the Bible cover to cover and the BOM cover to cover. Learn and do the teachings in them, be familiar with them, lest we be beguiled. Also pray and watch constantly, discuss any problem you face with brothers and sisters - collective counselling is very effective. Demons may deceive a single person, but it is hard for them to deceive a group of persons, who discuss things carefully among themselves.

The Whitmers broke with JS on this issue of polygamy. But David Whitmer loved JS all through his life, as you can see in his book "An Address to All Believers in Christ". We should not blame JS, because we might not be able to stand if we were in JS's shoes - the devils are extremely crafty and powerful, and very often, would appear as angel of light.

Jesus : "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." [Mt 26:41]

Paul : "But even if we, OR AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed." [Galatians 1:8]

>As far as the dilemma about an angel commanding something
>contrary to Book of Mormon or Bible. It all comes down to
>principle of law. People have been commanded by God to kill
>before, although murder is against His commandments.

The central theme of the Bible is

(see [Lev 26], [Deut 28])

BOM says the same thing, [2 Nephi 1:20]

LORD : Inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land; but inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence.

LORD governs the Universe with His Laws, much as governments today do.

The fact that LORD will punish people/nations if they break the Laws is borne out by the history of Israel as well as the history of the Mayans (Nephites).

Nephi killed Laban by command of an angel. Say, if Laban did not take away the money of Lehi, did not seek the life of Nephi and Laman (broke Laws again), but lived a righteous life, would you obey that angel if you were Nephi ?

The Israelites killed many Canaanites on command of LORD [Exodus, Joshua]. Say, if the Canaanites did not sacrifice their sons/daughters to demons (shed innocent blood), did not do abominable things (e.g. Sodomy), but keep the Laws and Commandments of LORD, would you obey that command to kill, if you were an Israelite ?

What is "faith" ? Faith is that LORD, the eternal TRUTH, will never lie. LORD will do according to the words from His mouth, will keep His promises. LORD is able to keep His promises because He is all mighty and all powerful.

Therefore people who have faith live a life modeling after Jesus, do only what is right in the sight of LORD, even at the peril of death and torture, because they know they will be resurrected to a better life, to a new Heaven and New Earth where they will find only righteous people. (See [Hebrew 11] for the meaning of "faith")

"Faith" is not "Do as the prophet tells you. Prophet is infallible. Everything will be O.K. No need to exercise care and judgement. You will incur no punishment or evil consequences even if that breaks Laws and Commandments, because Prophet represents GOD." Is it the way Lehi, Nephi, Jacob, Mosiah, Alam, Helaman, Mormoni, Nephi, .. behaved ? Is it the way Jeremiah, Isaiah, Habakkuk, .... behaved ?

Study the teachings of LORD and Jesus, walk in their teachings carefully, and "DO NOT TRUST IN THE ARM OF FLESH, but trust the (promises made by) LORD [Jer 17:5-8]", and you will be sure that LORD will bless you, will never fail you nor forsake you. Read the Bible and BOM cover to cover, and let the authors talked directly to you.

> Don't be stupid. Joseph Smith did not fall.
> If Joseph fell, then what about the apostles and
> prophets that followed him to the end, and then
> continued his work? I guess they fell too.

'JS fell' did not mean 'EVERY MORMON in LDS fell', (but those who practiced polygamy, those who craved for young girls and got them as wives as their hearts desired, fell). Those who grieved and disapproved of polygamy and held fast the teachings in Bible, in BOM, did not.

When we stand before the Judgement Seat in the Last Day, everyone will be judged by what one does, not what others do.

LORD GOD, Jesus, and the righteous will be there to hear the trials.

When you break Law, but you defend yourself with, "I followed the order from a prophet, or I followed the order from an angel", do you think LORD or Jesus will accept that? Will you accept that if another breaks the Laws and defends himself this way ?

There are faithful angels, as well as fallen angels pretending to be angels of light. Evil spirits would, very often, pretend to be even the Holy Ghost, i.e. the Almighty Himself.

Enclosed below was John D. Lee's word of how bishop Snow got a girl already betrothed.

Wu Siu Yan
19 May 2002

The following is taken from John D. Lee's autobiography, Chapter XIX, about bishop Snow's attempt to get a girl who was already betrothed, (Manti, Utah),

As an illustration I will refer to an instance that many a good Saint knows to be true.

Warren Snow was Bishop of the Church at Manti, San Pete County, Utah. He had several wives, but there was a fair, buxom young woman in the town that Snow wanted for a wife. He made love to her with all his powers, went to parties where she was, visited her at her home, and proposed to make her his wife. She thanked him for the honor offered, but told him she was then engaged to a young man, a member of the Church, and consequently could not marry the old priest. This was no sufficient reason to Snow. He told her it was the will of God that she should marry him, and she must do so; that the young man could be got rid of, sent on a mission or dealt with in some way so as to release her from her engagement--that, in fact, a promise made to the young man was not binding, when she was informed that it was contrary to the wishes of the authorities.

The girl continued obstinate. The "teachers" of the town visited her and advised her to marry Bishop Snow. Her parents, under the orders of the Counselors of the Bishop, also insisted that their daughter must marry the old man. She still refused. Then the authorities called on the young man and directed him to give up the young woman. This he steadfastly refused to do. He was promised Church preferment, celestial rewards, and everything that could be thought of--all to no purpose. He remained true to his intended, and said he would die before he would surrender his intended wife to the embraces of another.

This unusual resistance of authority by the young people made Snow more anxious than ever to capture the girl. The young man was ordered to go on a mission to some distant locality, so that the authorities would have no trouble in effecting their purpose of forcing the girl to marry as they desired. But the mission was refused by the still contrary and unfaithful young man.

It was then determined that the rebellious young man must be forced by harsh treatment to respect the advice and orders of the Priesthood. His fate was left to Bishop Snow for his decision. He decided that the young man should be castrated; Snow saying, "When that is done, he will not be liable to want the girl badly, and she will listen to reason when she knows that her lover is no longer a man."

It was then decided to call a meeting of the people who lived true to counsel, which was to be held in the school-house in Manti, at which place the young man should be present, and dealt with according to Snow's will. The meeting was called. The Young man was there, and was again requested, ordered and threatened, to get him to surrender the young woman to Snow, but true to his plighted troth, he refused to consent to give up the girl. The lights were then put out. An attack was made on the young man. He was severely beaten, and then tied with his back down on a bench, when Bishop Snow took a bowie-knife, and performed the operation in a most brutal manner, and then took the portion severed from his victim and hung it up in the school-house on a nail, so that it could be seen by all who visited the house afterwards.

The party then left the young man weltering in his blood, and in a lifeless condition. During the night he succeeded in releasing himself from his confinement, and dragged himself to some hay-stacks, where he lay until the next day, when he was discovered by his friends. The young man regained his health, but has been an idiot or quiet lunatic ever since, and is well known by hundreds of both Mormons and Gentiles in Utah.

After this outrage old Bishop Snow took occasion to get up a meeting at the school-house, so as to get the people of Manti, and the young woman that he wanted to marry, to attend the meeting. When all had assembled, the old man talked to the people about their duty to the Church, and their duty to obey counsel, and the dangers of refusal, and then publicly called attention to the mangled parts of the young man, that had been severed from his person, and stated that the deed had been done to teach the people that the counsel of the Priesthood must be obeyed. To make a long story short, I will say, the young woman was soon after forced into being sealed to Bishop Snow.

The following is John Whitmer's account of what JS and the Church did, taken from his book, History of the Church.

P.S. John Whitmer's Book, Chapter 20 - 22

CHAPTER 20 1837

In the fall of 1836, Joseph Smith, Jr., S. Rigdon and others of the leaders of the Church at Kirtland, Ohio, established a bank for the purpose of speculation, and the whole Church partook of the same spirit; they were lifted up in pride, and lusted after the forbidden things of God, such as covetousness, and in secret combinations, spiritual-wife doctrine, that is plurality of wives, and Gadianton bands, in which they were bound with oaths, etc., that brought division and mistrust among those who were pure in heart, and desired the upbuilding of the Kingdom of God.

Joseph Smith, Jr., S. Rigdon, and Hyrum Smith moved their families to this place, Far West, in the spring of 1838. As soon as they came here, they began to enforce their new organized plan, which caused dissensions and difficulties, threatenings and even murders. Smith called a council of the leaders together, in which council he stated that any person who said a word against the heads of the Church, should be driven over these prairies as a chased deer by a pack of hounds, having an illusion to the Gideonites, as they were termed, to justify themselves in their wicked designs. Thus on the 19th of June, 1838, they preached a sermon called the salt sermon, in which these Gideonites understood that they should drive the dissenters, as they termed those who believed not in their secret bands, in fornication, adultery or midnight machinations. Therefore they commenced suing at the law of the land by attachment for debts which they knew were paid, and justly paid, according to the laws of God and the land, and thus foreswore themselves in these things. Joseph Smith, Jr., S. Rigdon and Hyrum Smith were the instigators, and George W. Robinson, the prosecutor against David Whitmer, Lyman E. Johnson, Oliver Cowdery, F. G. Williams, W. W. Phelps and myself. They had threatened us, to kill us, if we did not make restitutions to them, by upholding them in their wicked purposes and designs. After they had instituted the foregoing suits Oliver Cowdery, D. Whitmer, L. E. Johnson and myself went to Clay County to obtain legal council, to prepare to overthrow these attachments which they had caused to be issued against us, which we were abundantly able to do by good and substantial witnesses.

But to our great astonishment, when we were on our way home from Liberty, Clay County, we met the families of Oliver Cowdery and L. E. Johnson, whom they had driven from their homes, and robbed them of all their goods, save clothing, bedding, etc.

While we were gone, Jo. and Rigdon and their band of Gadiantons kept up a guard, and watched our houses, and abused our families, and threatened them, if they were not gone by morning, they would be drove [driven] out, and threatened our lives, if they ever saw us in Far West.

After they had driven us and our families, they commenced a difficulty in Daviess County, adjoining this county, in which they began to rob and burn houses, etc. etc., took honey which they, (the Mormons) called sweet oil, and hogs which they called bear, and cattle which they called buffalo. Thus they would justify themselves by saying, "We are the people of God, and all things are God's; therefore, they are ours." The old inhabitants were not slack in paying them in their own coin. Thus war and bloodshed commenced and the result was the Church was driven from this land, the pure in heart and innocent, as well as the more wicked, save a few dissenters who were left here to fulfill some of the former commandments.

Now, before the Church left, Joseph Smith, Jr., Sidney Rigdon, H. Smith, P. P. Pratt, Lyman Wight and Amasa Lyman were delivered up to General Lucas and General Clark, and the rest of the officers of the government, and were ordered out by the governor of this state to stop the difficulties between the citizens and the Mormons. Smith and those others were tried by those officers for treason, etc., but found that they were not legally authorized to execute them after having found them guilty of many breaches of the law of the land, they put them in the hand of civil officers of the government, to be tried by the law of the land, and were committed to jail; but before the trial came on, which was named to some of the counties of this state, where the people were not so much prejudiced against them, as they were moved from Clay County to the county where they were to be tried, they hired the guard to let them go, etc., which they did and informed their brethren that an angel had delivered them from the guard; when in fact money hired those base and corrupt men, who let them go; and this through the wickedness of those to whom their safe-keeping were committed, these men escaped the justice of the law of the land which they had transgressed, and went unpunished at this time.

Now after Smith and those who were with him were let go, they speedily went to Illinois to a place which Smith named Nauvoo, where they built a city which they called Nauvoo, and began to build up a broken and scattered people, sending forth many elders and priests, etc., to proclaim to the nations of the earth, the suffering of the saints and also the gospel in great haste. And many received the gospel, and gathered to Nauvoo, and built a city. Smith received a commandment to build a house unto the name of the Lord which they speedily commenced, but did not complete it before the wicked rose up and murdered Joseph and Hyrum Smith. Now, the Mormons (as they were called by those who did not believe in the Book of Mormon) found great favor in the eyes of the governor and congress of Illinois, so that the Mormons had a charter granted for the city of Nauvoo, in which they organized themselves according to their own desires.

Now, according to the best information I could get, they, the leaders, protested against spiritual wife system and Gadianton bands and their wickedness publicly, but I will show hereafter that they did not do as did the Lamanites in the days of the Nephites, when they were convinced of the incorrect traditions of their fathers, for when they were one converted, they remained so until the day of their death.

As soon as the Lord gave Smith and the Church favor in the eyes of the people among whom they lived, and began to prosper them and many began to gather to Nauvoo, Smith and the leaders began to exercise their hatred to those whom he called his enemies. He hired a man by the name of Porter Orin Rockwell (who was one of the Gadianton band of whom I heretofore spoke) to go and murder a man by the name of L. W. Boggs who had been elected governor by the people of the state of Missouri but was not governor at the time Smith sent him to commit this crime. Boggs resided at Independence, the place appointed for the land of Zion, yea, the new Jerusalem; so Rockwell went to Independence, and at night he went to the house of Boggs and shot him through the window; but he did not kill him, only wounded him severly, but he recovered. Rockwell was caught and put to jail, and I believe he was tried by a jury of inquest, but was not sufficient testimony to condemn him, though it is a well-known fact that he was hired by Smith to kill Boggs.

Now the foregoing I have given to show that the secret band did still exist among the leaders of the Church, even in Smith, the prophet and seer and revelator. Had it not been upheld by him, the Church would not have suffered in the way it did. For example, look at the children of Israel in the days of King Saul; for his transgression of the kingdom was rent from him and given to another more worthy; and the children of Israel suffered much in consequence thereof.

Now, as I said before, the Lord began to prosper them in Nauvoo and as soon as they began to prosper they began to be lifted up in pride, and behaved vilely towards the people in Hancock County, Illinois, in which county Nauvoo is situated, as also to the people in the counties round about, so that the people began to threaten them again and raised mobs to drive the Saints, (as they called themselves) from their homes. The Mormons at the same time would steal from them many things; and indeed the Mormons would justify themselves in this wicked way saying, "We are the Lord's, and the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; therefore these things are ours." Also, "God has said by the mouths of the prophets that he would consecrate the riches of the Gentiles to the house of Israel, and we are the house of Israel, etc. etc." "Now," say they, "when these things are placed before our eyes, go, and God is not intending to give it himself, but you are agents, and these things are before you, go and help yourselves," etc..

Now, these scriptures would they quote to excuse themselves that they might steal and rob their neighbors, according to their wicked desires, lusting after those things which were forbidden them in the scriptures.

After the Mormons had their city charted by the state legislature they had all their officers, and when any stole, they would flee to Nauvoo to seek protection; and behold they were protected and upheld, so that the guilty would not be punished according to the law of the land. Now, had the leaders been willing to bring the guilty to justice, they could not have escaped, but must have been punished; but here is the bad effect of secret combinations, such as have ever destroyed the Church of God, because those who were leaders in the Church were partakers of these Cain institutions, which were handed down by the devil.

In the meanwhile, the Twelve were preaching in England and elsewhere and built up many Churches; the gathering continued, and many who were born again and came to Nauvoo and beheld the things that were there conducted sickened in their hearts; others were pleased with the things, for in their hearts; others were pleased with the things, for they were pleasing to the carnal mind, especially where an assurance was held forth for their protection by the prophet of God. Others denied the faith, for they knew that these things were contrary to the words of God and withdrew themselves.

Now there has been much said and published by the mobbers of Illinois and Missouri that are without a shadow of truth as also by the people of Nauvoo.

Now, Smith wrote many revelations concerning himself, as you will see by reading the Book of Covenants printed at Kirtland, Ohio, in which we read that the keys of the kingdom of God should not be taken from him until Christ should come, on condition that he should not transgress. But if he should transgress, they should be taken, and another be appointed in his stead, and that this should be all the power that he should have to appoint another in his stead.

(Lines have been drawn across the following words:) God, knowing all things, prepared a man whom he visited by an angel of God and showed him where there were some ancient record hid, and also put in his heart to desire of faith to grant him power to establish a stake to Zion in Wisconsin Territory, whose name is James J. Strang. Now at first Smith was unfavorably disposed to grant him this request, but being troubled in spirit and knowing from the things that were staring him in the face that his days must soon be closed, therefore he enquired of the Lord and behold the Lord said Appoint James J. Strang a prophet, seer and revelator unto my Church, for thou shalt thereby do a mention thy cup is bitter etc. Shortly after the appointment of Strang, the mob gathered and took by stratagem Joseph and Hyrum Smith and conveyed them to Carthage, the seat of justice in and for the county of Hancock (Caldwell has been stricken out in favor of Hancock) as if to try them by the law of the land for their crimes, they murdered them and thus the Lord's anointed fell by the brutal hand of man and they are gone the way of all the earth and Strang reigns in the place of Smith, the author and proprietor of the Book of Mormon.

As I have before stated that Joseph Smith had left Kirtland, Ohio, with the camp of the saints so called to go to Jackson County to redeem Zion, and received a revelation that God would redeem it in his own time, etc. On his way to Missouri, or Zion, he was frequently heard to say that he had a duty to perform, and that was, he has to appoint another in his stead, to wit, David Whitmer.

After the camp dispersed at Fishing River, Smith and F. G. Williams came to Clay County together with many others who scattered in Clay County and elsewhere, Smith called a conference at the house of Lyman Wight, three miles west of Liberty, in which conference the most of the official members belonging to Zion were present, where Smith organized the high council of Zion, as I said in a former chapter, in which David Whitmer was ordained president of Zion, and John Whitmer and W. W. Phelps his counselors. Here at the same time, he ordained David Whitmer prophet, seer and revelator and translator.

Now from this time forth, which was in July, 1834, Smith seemed to be in doubt whereinto this thing would grow, and began to upbraid D. Whitmer, and abuse him as his natural custom to do unto those whom he feared, lest they should become great in the sight of God or man; therefore, he harangued the conference and sought to destroy the confidence of the people present in David Whitmer, on whom he had bestowed all the gifts and power that he had himself received by inspiration, by the laying on his hand according to the order of heaven.

After Smith's return to Kirtland, Ohio, and after his ordering the first elders of the Church to go to Ohio, there to receive their endowments from on high, he hastened the finishing of the house at Kirtland which was commenced before he had gone to Zion to redeem her. He from his time began to be lifted up in the pride of his eyes, and began to seek riches and the glory of the world; also sought to establish the ancient order of things, as he and his counsellors, Rigdon and Hyrum Smith, pleased to call it. Therefore, they began to form themselves into a secret society which they termed the brother of Gideon, in the which society they took oaths that they would support a brother right or wrong, even to the shedding of blood. Thus those who belonged to this society were bound to keep it a profound secret, never to reveal, but ever to conceal these abominations from all and every person except those who were of the same craft. But these things could not be kept a secret, in consequence of betrayers who fell from their faith and revealed their secrets.

Thus things were carried on by secret plots and midnight machinations, which society was beginning to be established in Kirtland, Ohio, in the fall of 1836. The formation of these things together with adultery, wickedness and abominations which grew and multiplied in the heads and members of the Church of Christ of Latter-day Saints brought Joseph Smith and his brother, Hyrum, to an untimely end, as also the scattering of the Church, and the Twelve who assumed the authority of leading the Church, were scattered from Nauvoo and suffered great afflictions. As also James J. Strang who also professes to be appointed Seer, Revelator, Prophet and successor of him, Joseph; also Sidney Rigdon he drew a portion after him.

Now it came to pass that the Twelve of whom Brigham is leader in

(Here the Whitmer record ends at the bottom of page 96. It was in this condition when it came into the hands of the Reorganized Church.)

The following is taken from John D. Lee's autobiography. He was the adopted son of Brigham Young, and he was with the Church at the very beginning.

P.S. Secret Alliance is the most abominable sin in the sight of LORD. We must walk in the light, never in the dark.

At the same Conference another organization was perfected, or then first formed - it was called the "Danites." The members of this order were placed under the most sacred obligations that language could invent. They were sworn to stand by and sustain each other. Sustain, protect, defend, and obey the leaders of the Church, under any and all circumstances unto death; and to disobey the orders of the leaders of the Church, or divulge the name of a Danite to an outsider, or to make public any of the secrets of the order of Danites, was to be punished with death. And I can say of a truth, many have paid the penalty for failing to keep their covenants. They had signs and tokens for use and protection. The token of recognition was such that it could be readily understood, and it served as a token of distress by which they could know each other from their enemies, although they were entire strangers to each other. When the sign was given it must be responded to and obeyed, even at the risk or certainty of death. The Danite that would refuse to respect the token, and comply with all its requirements, was stamped with dishonor, infamy, shame, disgrace, and his fate for cowardice and treachery was death.

I here pause, and ask myself the question, "Am I justified in making the above statement? I ask those who think I am not fully justified in telling all I know, to wait until they read the whole story; how I have been ordered, how I have obeyed orders, and how treacherously I have been used and deserted by the Church and its leaders. It is my purpose and intention, for such is my certain duty, to free my mind, and bring to light some of the secret workings, some of the deeds of darkness, that have been the result of the evil teachings of aspiring men, who have tried to couple their vile acts with the Gospel of Truth; and endeavored, alas! too successfully, to palm it off on the credulous and weaker-minded brethren, as a religious duty they owed to God, to unquestioningly obey every order of the Priesthood.

I soon found out that the people had voted as I have often known them to do in Mormon meetings since then, they vote to please the priesthood, then act to suit themselves. I never thought that was right or honest; men should vote their sentiments, but they do not at all times do so. I have been the victim of such hypocrites, as the sequel will show.

The Prophet, Joseph Smith, said it was a civil war; that by the rules of war each party was justified in spoiling his enemy. This opened the door to the evil disposed, and men of former quiet became perfect demons in their efforts to spoil and waste sway the enemies of the Church. I then found that men are creatures of circumstances, and that the occasion calls forth the men needed for each enterprise. I also soon saw that it was natural inclination of men to steal, and convert to their own use that which others possessed. What perplexed me most was to see that religion had not the power to subdue that passion in man, but that at the first moment when the restrictions of the Church were withdrawn, the most devout men in our community acted like they had served a lifetime in evil, and were natural-born thieves.

While I was engaged with the Mormon troops in ranging over the country, the men that I was with took a large amount of loose property, but did not while I was with them burn any houses or murder any men. Yet we took what property we could find, especially provisions, fat cattle and arms and ammunition. But still many houses were burned and much damage was done by the Mormons, and they captured a howitzer and many guns from the Gentiles. Frequent attacks were made upon the Mormon settlements. The Mormons made an attack on Gallatin one night, and carried off much plunder. I was not there with them, but I talked often with them and learned all the facts about it. The town was burnt down, and everything of value, including the goods in two stores, was carried off by the Mormons. I often escaped being present with the troops on their thieving expeditions, by loaning my horses and arms to others who liked that kind of work better than I did. Unless I had adopted that course I could never have escaped from being present with the Hosts of Israel in all their lawless acts, for I was one of the regular Host, and I could not escape going when ordered, unless I furnished a substitute, which sometimes was accepted, but not always. A company went from Adam-on-Diamond and burned the house and buildings belonging to my friend McBrier. Every article of moveable property was taken by the troops; he was utterly ruined. This man had been a friend to me and many others of the brethren; he was an honorable man, but his good character and former acts of kindness had no effect on those who were working, as they pretended, to build up the Kingdom of God. The Mormons brought in every article that could be used, and much that was of no use or value was hauled to Adam-on-Diamond. Men stole simply for the love of stealing. Such inexcusable acts of lawlessness had the effect to arouse every Gentile in the three Counties of Caldwell, Carroll and Daviess, as well as to bring swarms of armed Gentiles from other localities.

AFTER 1844, it was my habit to keep a journal, in which I wrote at length all that I considered worthy of remembering. Most of my journals, written up to 1860, were called for by Brigham Young, under the plea that he wished the Church historian to write up the Church history, and wished my journal to aid him in making the history perfect. As these journals contained many things not intended for the public eye, and especially very much concerning the crimes of Mormon leaders in Southern Utah and elsewhere, and all I knew of the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and what led to it, they were never returned to me. I suppose they were put out of the way, perhaps burned, for these journals gave an account of many dark deeds.

But I do most sincerely regret that I have ever suffered myself to be captivated by the wiles of the devil, contrary to my better judgment. I regret that I have ever listened, or given the least credence, to the many monstrous absurdities that Brigham Young has introduced into the Mormon creed, and claimed, as the successor of Joseph Smith, to have coupled with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Brigham Young has introduced many things that have no affinity with the gospel whatever; but these new doctrines are contrary, in spirit and substance, to the gospel. They are at war with the doctrines of the Church, and antagonistic to the peace, safety, and happiness of the people known as Latter Day Saints. The whole study, aim, and design of Brigham Young is to disrobe the Saints of every vestige of their remaining constitutional rights, and take from them all liberty of thought or conscience. He claims, and has claimed, since he became the head of the Church, that the will and acts of the people must all be dictated by him. The people have no right to exercise any will of their own. In a word, he makes himself out to be as infallible as the God of the universe, and delights in hearing the apostles and elders declare to the people that he, Brigham Young, is God. He claims that the people are answerable to him as to their God. That they must obey his every beck and call. It matters not what he commands or requests the people to do, it is their duty to bear and obey. To disobey the will of Brigham Young is, in his mind, a sin against the Holy Ghost, and is an unpardonable sin to be wiped out only by blood atonement (NOTE: it means death). The followers of Brigham Young are serfs, slaves, and willing instruments to carry out the selfish designs of the man that disgraces the seat once occupied by God's chosen Prophet, Joseph Smith.

In the meantime, his "destroying angels" were diligently on the watch, and every suspicious man was closely tracked up, and no strategy neglected to find out his business. If they were suspicious that any man wanted to serve a writ on his Honor, Brigham Young, they were careful never to let that man escape. Sometimes they would treat them with great kindness, and in that way decoy them to some out-of-the-way place, and "save" them, as they called it.

Besides there were enough willing tools to do all this kind of dirty Jobs without me, though it was entrusted to the police to do, they being sworn to secrecy. If any of them was caught in a scrape, it was the duty of the rest to unite and swear him out. It was claimed that the Gentiles had no right to administer an oath. I have heard men say they would swear a house full of lies to save one of the brethren. Whatever the police were ordered to do, they were to do and ask no questions. Whether it was right or wrong mattered not to them, they were responsible only to their leaders, and they were amenable only to God.

Strange as it may appear, yet it is true, that many of this people are blind to the intrigues of this heartless impostor (NOTE: Brigham Young) They suffer themselves to be bound in fetters of bondage, and surrender the last principle of manhood and independence, and make themselves slaves to that corrupt usurper and his profligate family, who have robbed the fatherless, and usurped the right to rule that belongs to another; and who has been trying to put his profligate sons at the head of this Church, to rule over this people.

Thus things grew worse the longer the Saints remained at Nauvoo. It was an unfortunate matter, and much of the trouble that came upon the Church was brought on through the folly and fanaticism of the Saints. I have seen relentless cruelty practiced by those who directed this cattle stealing. I cannot call it anything else, though they called it getting back what had been taken from them. It caused many strangers to come to the city to look for traces of their cattle. A company was organized, called the "Whittiers." They had long knives, and when any of these strangers would come to town, they would gather around him, and whittle; none of them saying a word, no matter what question was asked. They would thus watch any stranger, gathering close to him, until they finally ran him out of town. I never took part in such low, dirty doings. I was taught from a child to respect all persons, as every spirit begets its like. I never did think any good came of such conduct. A man must respect himself, or he can never command others.

I was the second one adopted to Brigham Young. I should have been his first adopted son, being the first that proposed it to him, but always ready to give preference to those in authority, I placed A. P. Rockwood's name first on the list. I also had my children adopted to me in the Temple. Brigham Young had his children adopted to himself, and we were the only ones, to my knowledge, that had our children so adopted at the Temple at Nauvoo. As time would not permit attending to all the people, the business was rushed through day and night.

The Mormon steamer there was laden with troops, who hastened to Peoria to rescue the Prophet. When they arrived there they found him at liberty. This was in 1843. The same winter he organized what was called the "Council of Fifty." This was a confidential Organization. A man by the name of Jackson belonged to it, though he did not belong to the Church. This Council was designated as a law-making department, but no record was ever kept of its doings, or if kept, they were burned at the close of each meeting. Whenever anything of importance was on foot this Council was called to deliberate upon it. The Council was called the "Living Constitution." Joseph said that no legislature could enact laws that would meet every case, or attain the ends of justice in all respects.

I am not of LDS, but pro 'Book of Mormon'

I am pro-BOM, but hold the view that JS fell, whereas some of you think a prophet is infallible. No one is infallible. (From this, you may infer that I am NOT of LDS, but a Christian. I have been a Christian for many years.)

In my previous post, I have said,

Anti the ruling Chinese Communist is not anti-China. (The Communists hold that Mao Tze-tung is infallible, and no one is allowed to express anti-communist view in China. Communist organization is a kind of Secret Combination, please read the Book by Mr. Lee Kuau-yew, former prime minister of Singapore.)

Hold the view that JS fell, and LDS is in error is not the same as anti-mormon.

I love Mormon, Moroni, Lehi, Nephi, Mosiah, Helaman, Alma, ... I love them all. I have firm faith in BOM - it is the Bible according to the tribe of Joseph, whereas Bible is the Bible according to the tribe of Judah, the two most prominent sons of Jacob.

I studied Mathematics. In Mathematics, we would not accept heresay, but proofs, using strict logic, so that everything accepted must be carefully and logically deduced. I use this attitude in all things. I use my eye and mind and common sense, and I would not easily accept any saying without careful consideration and thinking and investigation on my part.

Ever since the formation of Secret Alliance in the uppermost echelon of the Church, LDS has been captured by Satan/demons. Now that Internet (information) is widely available, Christians should shake off such evil influence by careful investigation on one's own, and walk again in the path of men of GOD of old did - in the path of Jesus, Peter, John, James, .... , Lehi, Nephi, Alma, Mosiah, Helaman, Nephi, Mormon.

Shake yourself free from Secret Alliance, and return to LORD.

The reasons why I did not join LDS (Mormon Church)

I met LDS missionaries many years ago, they told me that people emigrated from Israel to America. I thought it impossible. Therefore I declined accepting BOM from them, and refused to read it.

Until sometimes ago, I came across LDS website when doing some searches.

When I read the "Testimony of Eight Witnesses", I was impressed. I thought they were honest. Therefore I started to read "The First Book of Nephi" online.

As I have been a Christian for many years, I am accustomed to the way Christians behaved and spoke, e.g. Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Judah, Tamar, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, David, .... Therefore I knew immediately that BOM is true.

As it was inconvenient to read the whole BOM online, I rang up LDS office and asked for a copy, and they were kind enough to give me one free of charge.

I spent some days reading it through. Then I went to the LDS office to talk with the missionaries.

At that time, I had a sincere desire to befriend with them.

Two missionaries and I went into a room, and had a discussion.

We had several such discussions every few days or so.

I was a little disappointed to find that they were not familiar with the teachings of the Bible, nor the teachings of Jesus (Sermon on the Mount), nor even the teachings in BOM. They were quite familiar with some "doctrines" which I thought were taught to them by LDS.

But in general, I find them polite, courtesy, dressed neatly, and have a eagerness to serve LORD.

The two missionaries told me about "modern day prophet", and that LDS is the only correct church.

It seems to me that the prophet is some kind of "god", or representative of GOD ! that absolute obedience is required.

I became alerted. Chinese Christians only believe in Jesus, in Sermon on the Mount. And Gospels of Matthew/Luke/John are our main stays. Teachings of Jesus have guided Christians for 2000 years, and we call LORD our father in heaven ever since Jesus came. But LDS seems to neglect Jesus and put more on a prophet, a human, seems to distant us from our Father in heaven with an intermediate human.

I live in Hong Kong and Hong Kong is full of communists, a kind of Secret Combination.

I know the doctrines of the communists - "ganging together to bring in a Utopian world, where there is no inequality, no privileged class", but at the same time, "Party leaders are infallible, and absolute obedience to party leadership is required. No disclosure of Party secrets to outsiders, etc." Even today, the year 2002, no one in China ever dares to speak against Mao Tze-tung. THE SOLE PURPOSE OF ALL THESE IS TO DECEIVE AND THEN TO ENSLAVE.

At a very early age, I learned the precept "What is right and not who is right", meaning that we should not reject something simply because it comes from the mouth of a man of low standing, nor should we accept something simply because it comes from the authority, etc.

In everything, we must exercise care and judgement.

"TRUTH AND TRUTH only" should we accept.

One missionary became "fierce" when I reasoned with him this way, and it seemed to me to frighten me into acceptance. At that point, I broke with them.

From that time, I know that there are Secret Alliance in LDS. (I think a small percentage are members of the Secret Alliance, but they hold management positions. The majority of the missionaries are sincere, but inexperienced youths with a distorted version of LORD - our kind and merciful heavenly father.)

Though I cut myself off from LDS, my interest in BOM is not diminished. I continued to visit LDS website, and read the Book of Moses, and the Book of Abraham, and D&C online.

When I read D&C, I was alarmed. D&C claimed to be GOD speaking, but the tone of which is totally different from the way ALL GOOD CHRISTIANS in the Bible and the BOM spoke. It appeared to me a totally alien personality.

My mind was unsettled. I was in anguish. Should that be true, that it was GOD speaking, then I would be rejecting GOD ! Sleeplessness came.

I pondered and pondered and pondered. Finally, I rejected D&C because the personality there is too alien to me, totally different from all the personalities I know in the Bible and the BOM.

The personality of Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Judah, Samuel, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Esther, Mordecai, Job, Jesus, Peter, John, Luke, Paul, Lehi, Nephi, Mosiah, Helaman, Alma, ... are roughly the same. They were made in the image of GOD and so their personality reflected LORD. But the personality in D&C is totally different.

I then wrote a webpage and put it in my homepage, explaining why I rejected D&C. If you are interested, you may click it to read it.

But my interest in BOM and the Maya history was not diminished. I continued to search in the Internet to know more about BOM and LDS.

Then I came across David Whitmer's book "An Address to All Believers in Christ".

It surprised me totally when David Whitmer said that D&C had consistently been changed, and the meaning of some were direct opposite to the original. David Whitmer had the original copy of D&C and the changed version of D&C to compare with. David Whitmer suggested that as he and JS and others were young at that time, being deceived into error was not surprising, therefore he suggested that we should trash D&C, and build the church on only the BIBLE and BOM.

Then I knew that I was not alone in rejecting D&C, David Whitmer held the same view ! And he was one of the 3 witnesses mentioned in the BOM !

I continued to read more. I read the book of John Whitmer, the private letters of Oliver Cowdery, the numerous interviews and witnessings by Martin Harris, ...

I also read things written by ex-Mormons, many of them have written on the Internet.

One ex-mormon struck me most by saying that he left LDS only after he had a son. When he fathered his son, he knew how much he loved and cared for his son, and he began to understand LOVE, which was not taught in LDS. He left LDS because LDS does not teach LOVE - the most desirable fruit, the most pure and white fruit Lehi and Nephi desired.

I also read the book by John D. Lee. The autobiography of John D. Lee provided me with much insider information. The book by John Whitmer and the book by John D. Lee established beyond doubt that LDS was captured by Secret Alliance at the very early days of the formation of the Church. The election and subsequent rule of terror by Brigham Young was a manifestation of that fact.

After September 11, my interest in Islam grew, I downloaded Quran from the internet, and read it to know more of Muslims.

Islam insisted that Mohammed is infallible. Criticism of Quran is not allowed, and may be punishable by death. (e.g. Moses said the three sons of Noah were saved in the flood, Quran said that his son was drowned. Moses said that thief repay double, Quran said that hand of thief should be cut off, ... Quran changed The Laws of LORD completely! Yet Quran acknowledges Moses and Jesus !)

LDS, Islam, Communists in China, all claim that someone is infallible, and that no criticism or questioning is ever allowed. That is not the way LORD operates.

Therefore I come to the conclusion : if a religion does not allow you to exercise your mind and reasoning power, does not allow you to raise questions, then you should leave. That is not the way LORD behaves.

LORD brings us up much like a man does. LORD would teach us more and more, until one day, we may form correct judgement on our own, doing what is right in the sight of LORD. LORD would never prohibit us to use our reasoning power, and insist on blind obedience. It is LORD's wish that we live in peace and joy and liberty, not in fear and uncertainty and sense of oppression.

It is my sincere hope that all Mormons read the Bible, the BOM, cover to cover. Interpreting the message in them using COMMON SENSE. Then read the Books by David Whitmer, John Whitmer, the writings of Oliver Cowdery, the interviews of Martin Harris. Finally read the autobiography of John D. Lee, to know how LDS got into error in the beginning.

Lastly, return to the LORD. Holding fast the teachings of LORD and of Jesus, of Laws and Commandments, as LORD's promise "keep the Laws => blessing; break the Laws => curse" will NEVER fail. The Bible and the BOM teach this SAME AND IDENTICAL message.

LORD and Jesus are your TRUE SHEPHERD, your heavenly Father and your heavenly shepherd. Pray to Him, trust in Him and rely on Him. Never rely on a human.

"Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm, ... Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. [Jer 17:5-8] This is the central message in David Whitmer's book.

If you rely on a man-prophet as your shepherd, you will become prey for the traffickers of sheep. You will live as slave, in fear and uncertainty and sense of oppression, never in joy and peace and freedom.

The Doctrine of Jesus : repent and become as a little child

Jesus :

And thus will the Father bear record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one.

And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name, or ye can in nowise receive these things.

And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, that this is my doctrine, and whoso buildeth upon this buildeth upon my rock, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against them.

And whoso shall declare more or less than this, and establish it for my doctrine, the same cometh of evil, and is not built upon my rock; but he buildeth upon a sandy foundation, and the gates of hell stand open to receive such when the floods come and the winds beat upon them.

Therefore, go forth unto this people, and declare the words which I have spoken, unto the ends of the earth.

[3 Nephi 11:36-41]

After Jesus spoke those words to the Nephites, he preached to them Sermon on the Mount.

Finally, Jesus spoke these words,

Jesus :

Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life.

Behold, I have given unto you the commandments; therefore keep my commandments. And this is the law and the prophets, for they truly testified of me.

[3 Nephi 15:9-10]

Jesus :

And whoso taketh upon him my name, and endureth to the end, the same shall be saved at the last day.

[3 Nephi 27:6]

Jesus :

And it shall come to pass, that whoso repenteth and is baptized in my name shall be filled; and if he endureth to the end, behold, him will I hold guiltless before my Father at that day when I shall stand to judge the world.

And he that endureth not unto the end, the same is he that is also hewn down and cast into the fire, from whence they can no more return, because of the justice of the Father.

[3 Nephi 27:16-17]

Therefore, the doctrine of Jesus is very simple,

  1. Repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in Jesus' name.

  2. Keep the teachings of Jesus - Sermon on the Mount.

  3. Model after Jesus (i.e. take upon ourself the name of Jesus), and endure to the end, doing only that is right in the sight of LORD even at the peril of death and torture.

There is great similarity between LDS and Islam.

Mohammed claimed to be the LAST prophet of LORD, and that LORD spoke through him, and Quran, which gathered all those sayings, were the final words of LORD (Cf. D&C [**} by JS).

Quran acknowledged Moses and Jesus, Quran acknowledged that they were prophets, but Quran replaced the Bible ! Quran made subtle changes to the Laws and Commandments of LORD (Cf. the teachings JS introduced in D&C).

JS did received many revelations, but the revelations were not from LORD. Just as Mohammed received many revelations, and the revelations were not from LORD. JS compiled all those revelations into a book "Doctrines and Covenants", Mohammed (or his followers) compiled it into Quran. (They both fell in the course of their lifes, and after the fall, evil spirits entered their hearts, and deceived them.)

Jesus said plainly that we must repent, become as a little child, keep Jesus' teachings onto the end (endure to the end), and that ANYTHING MORE OR LESS THAN this comes from evil.

Teachings of LORD, of Jesus, are very plain, and simple.

Far be the case of Quran and D&C.

Both Quran and D&C are from the evil ones, to beguile people into wrong paths.

If only the Muslims would throw away the Quran, and turn back to the Bible (which contains the teachings of Moses and Jesus, the two prophets Muslims acknowledge), and if only the Mormons would throw away D&C, and turn back to the Bible and BOM, they will find peace and joy from LORD.

Covenant of LORD : Keep the Laws and Commandments

Though LORD made several covenants in the Bible, only one stands apart from the rest, and it is,

Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon emphasized on this repeatedly.

Isaiah also said about this,

Isaiah :

The earth mourns and withers, the world languishes and withers; the heavens languish together with the earth.

The earth lies polluted under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.

Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched, and few men are left. [Is 24:4-6]

When Lehi left Jerusalem, he brought with him the brass plates of Laban. Did the brass plates contain the prophet book of Ezekiel ? the prophet book of Daniel ? ...

No, the brass plates stopped at the Book of Isaiah, and (part of the) Book of Jeremiah. They did not have the prophet books written after the destruction of Jerusalem.

But when Jesus appeared to the Nephites after His resurrection, did Jesus bring the prophet books to them ? No. Jesus told them no other prophet books but one, Book of Malachi. [See 3 Nephi chapters 24, 25.]

The main themes of the Book of Malachi are few :

  1. Honor LORD and Fear LORD, give glory to the name of LORD.

  2. Do not be faithless to one's wife; no divorce, and use no violence against wife.

  3. Support the house of LORD with tithes.

  4. Remember the Laws given through Moses.

  5. ....

In [3 Nephi 24, 25] Jesus verbally repeated three precepts :

  1. Fear the LORD,

  2. Tithes,

  3. "Remember ye the law of Moses, my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD; and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."
    [3 Nephi 25:4-6], [Malachi 4]

Jesus mentioned "Tithe", because, under LORD's political system in [Exodus], TAXATION IS VOLUNTARY. People gave tithes to the Levites, the Levites took the tithe of the tithe, and gave them to the priests and Moses.

TAXATION is voluntary, as compared with the compulsory taxation of all governments today.

The separation of "Police, Executive, Judiciary" cannot serve as a check to a run-away government. Voluntary taxation can.

If Moses and his commanders of thousand/hundred/fifty/ten, or Aaron and the priests and Levites did not serve well, the people simply gave less, or gave NONE.

Moses and Aaron and the priests were in "management positions", yet they received their pay from the Levites - they received the tithe of tithe. Again it is voluntary, not compulsory. Therefore if Moses and Aaron did not serve the Levites well, the Levites could simply gave them less.

When taxation is compulsory, much wrongs can happen. King Noah taxed 20% to support his concubines and idolatrous priests [Mosiah 11]. Many governments today would tax even more, to support secret researches, secret agents who oppress the people! If you do not pay tax - even if the Government uses your tax money to intrude into your rights and freedom - you will go to jail and have your properties confiscated and sold.

But when taxation is voluntary, and if people do not have a mind to support the work of LORD, the servants of LORD would be in dire strait. Therefore, in the Book of Malachi, as well as in [3 Nephi], Jesus and LORD reminded the people to pay tithe.

Next, Jesus and LORD told us to remember the Laws given through Moses.

LORD reminded us about this in the last book of Old Testament, the book of Malachi, as well as in the Book of Mormon [3 Nephi 24, 25]. LORD did not do this without reason. Because Law is the foundation of LORD's rule, and people must keep LORD's Laws or be cursed.

The precepts of Laws are few : (1) Mercy (2) Faithfulness (3) Justice. Therefore if one walks in the teachings of Jesus, e.g. Sermon on the Mount, one could easily fulfil the requirements of the Laws. The physical aspect of Moses' Laws dealing with sacrifices, were no longer needed.

LORD's Laws are based on the Principles of Justice, not on precedents. If Laws are based on precedents, the law books will become more and more, because more and more cases are added over the course of history. This will not be the case of LORD's Laws. Moreover, LORD explicitly told us not to add to, nor take away, His Laws [Deut 4:2], [Deut 12:32].

Without "precedents", every case has to be considered on its individual merits. Though there will be variations in judgements, but in general, justice may be dispensed better than that based on precedents - lawyers always know the tricks of their trade to find the suitable precedents to suit themselves. Therefore, precedents will not guarantee justice.

This is the covenant, "KEEP THE LAW => BLESSING ; BREAK THE LAW => CURSE." No a dot, nor an iota, can be taken away from the Law. The precepts of the Law, "mercy, faithfulness, justice", must be fulfilled by us to receive the blessings of LORD.

Give heed to LORD and Jesus' reminder that you may be blessed.

Meaning of Baptism

Baptism is not mentioned in the Old Testament. Yet LORD has talked about repentance and forgiveness of sin in the Old Testament, e.g.

But if a wicked man turns away from all his sins which he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness which he has done he shall live.

Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the LORD GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live? But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and does the same abominable things that the wicked man does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds which he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, he shall die. [Eze 18:21-24]

As I live, says the LORD GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel? And you, son of man, say to your people, 'The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him when he transgresses; and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall by it when he turns from his wickedness; and the righteous shall not be able to live by his righteousness when he sins. Though I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, yet if he trusts in his righteousness and commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds shall be remembered; but in the iniquity that he has committed he shall die. Again, though I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' yet if he turns from his sin and does what is lawful and right, if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he had taken by robbery, and walks in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of the sins that he has committed shall be remembered against him; he has done what is lawful and right, he shall surely live. [Eze 33:11-16]

Therefore, if someone humbles himself, confesses his sins, and returns to LORD, keeping His Laws and Commandments, doing what is lawful and right in the sight of LORD, would he receive a forgiveness of sin from LORD, even though he does not receive baptism from someone? Would LORD's promise of forgiveness in [Eze 18, 33] fail because he does not receive baptism?

Again, if a person receives baptism, yet trusts in his baptism and does sinful things, would he be guiltless before LORD?

This principle works for circumcision too. Real circumcision means we circumcize our heart, circumcize our fleshy passions -- we no longer make fleshy passions our goals of life (i.e. we no longer pursue after sex, after good food), but pursue after the righteousness of LORD [Eze 44:7]. Our voluntary cutting off the "foreskin" means we will forsake the pursue of fleshy passions as goals of life. (Although Christians today, except the Israelites, rarely cut off the foreskin, yet we do not pursue after fleshy passions.)

Paul to the Jews :

Circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? Then those who are physically uncircumcised but keep the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law. For he is not a real Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical. He is a Jew who is one inwardly, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart, spiritual and not literal. His praise is not from men but from GOD. [Romans 2:25-29]

Baptism means we are sorry for our past wrongs, and wish to live a new life -- "dead to our old-self" and "start afresh". We wish to take upon ourself the name of LORD, the name of Jesus, and Spirit of TRUTH, from the moment we immerse, then rise from the water (dead, then live), and ask LORD for forgiveness as He had promised in [Eze 18, 33].

Even Mormon talked about the inappropriateness of baptizing babies/infants, because "little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin;"

Mormon to his son Moroni :

Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God. Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance; the whole need no physician, but they that are sick; wherefore, little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin; wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them; and the law of circumcision is done away in me.

And after this manner did the Holy Ghost manifest the word of God unto me; wherefore, my beloved son, I know that it is solemn mockery before God, that ye should baptize little children. [Moroni 8:8-9]
