I have written several articles pertaining to physical health : (a) Bible Health, (b) Attention : pregnant woman, (c) Use of Ash, (d) Vegetable and fruit that can kill germs, which I hope you would read in conjunction with this.

1. Physical Training by simply walking

The army of many countries train recruits by making them run many miles a day .... No so with GOD.

[Joshua 6:1-20]

Now Jericho was shut up from within and from without because of the people of Israel; none went out, and none came in. And the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have given into your hand Jericho, with its king and mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. Thus shall you do for six days. And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark; and on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, the priests blowing the trumpets. And when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, as soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him." So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD." And he said to the people, "Go forward; march around the city, and let the armed men pass on before the ark of the LORD." And as Joshua had commanded the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before the LORD went forward, blowing the trumpets, with the ark of the covenant of the LORD following them. And the armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the trumpets blew continually. But Joshua commanded the people, "You shall not shout or let your voice be heard, neither shall any word go out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then you shall shout." So he caused the ark of the LORD to compass the city, going about it once; and they came into the camp, and spent the night in the camp. Then Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD. And the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD passed on, blowing the trumpets continually; and the armed men went before them, and the rear guard came after the ark of the LORD, while the trumpets blew continually. And the second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. So they did for six days. On the seventh day they rose early at the dawn of day, and marched around the city in the same manner seven times: it was only on that day that they marched around the city seven times. And at the seventh time, when the priests had blown the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, "Shout; for the LORD has given you the city. And the city and all that is within it shall be devoted to the LORD for destruction; only Rahab the harlot and all who are with her in her house shall live, because she hid the messengers that we sent. But you, keep yourselves from the things devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted them you take any of the devoted things and make the camp of Israel a thing for destruction, and bring trouble upon it. But all silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are sacred to the LORD; they shall go into the treasury of the LORD." So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people raised a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

We see LORD taught them to walk around Jericho once a day for 6 days, then on the 7th day, walk around it 7 times, then shout with a loud voice, and GOD would make the wall tumble to the ground.

This was the way LORD trained the Israelites before battle. They had many battles in Canaan.

People today, unlike their forefathers in agricultural times, rarely do physical work, and so they have weak bodies.

Many go to "Gym" etc. but these are expensive.

I suggest that we simply follow LORD's teaching : walk to improve our physique.

If you have a family, walk with your whole family every day. And sometimes walk long distance with them (Cf. 7 times around Jericho).

Walk with your friends who are distressed, or suffer affliction, illness, misfortune, ... in the forest, garden, beach, ... This can help.

2. Use of Oil in physical care (a)

Jesus talked of a Samaritan of his good act,

[Luke 10:30-36]

Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?"

We often have accidents, bruising ourselves. Rubbing with oil and wine can soothe the pain and help recovery. Wine is there to kill germs to prevent infection.

3. Use of Oil in physical care (b)

We can use oil to treat burn, which is very common for house-wives who have to cook everyday.

Rub oil on the burnt skin. As soon as the oil is absorbed into the skin (dried up on the skin), apply another coat of oil.

Keep on doing this, which you may do several times a day, until the burnt is cured.

I saw on TV of one Chinese woman who helped many severely burnt patients to recover by rubbing oil many times a day (always keep the skin moist with oil). That woman crushed some herb (she did not reveal what kind of herb), and mixed the juice thus extracted with the oil, but I think it is the oil that effect the cure, though the herbs make it more effective.

Use cooking oil which you can buy at markets, and not other oil.

4. Woman may have baby of her liking

[Genesis 30:37-39]

Then Jacob took fresh rods of poplar and almond and plane, and peeled white streaks in them, exposing the white of the rods. He set the rods which he had peeled in front of the flocks in the runnels, that is, the watering troughs, where the flocks came to drink. And since they bred when they came to drink, the flocks bred in front of the rods and so the flocks brought forth striped, speckled, and spotted.

Woman may consult with her husband whether they want a baby. If they decide to have one, first they should do what the angel told the mother of Samson to do before conception and during conception (read [Judges 13:13]), that is, not eat any grape/raisin, not drink wine made from grape, not eat "unclean" food -- what are "clean" food and what are "unclean food" are told in [Leviticus 11]) which you should read.

Then they may find some photo (poster size preferred) of the type of person they want their son/daughter to be, and post the photo beside their bed.

Pray to GOD to give them baby.

After giving birth to a baby, rest 40 days for a boy, and 80 days for a girl [Leviticus 12], for the body to recover and for the womb to shrink back to the pre-pregnant size.

Jesus is the Creator, GOD of heaven and earth. All Christian -- followers of Christ -- should imitate Jesus, model after him, and aim to be like him, with a heart much like a woman desiring to have a baby of her liking.

Always keep Jesus before our eyes, like the woman who always look at the photo posted beside her bed. Read the gospel books [Matthew, Mark, Luke, John], visualize what Jesus did and spoke.

Pray often.

Study, learn and WALK Jesus' teachings.

Imitate him.

Let his attitudes be your attitudes.

Remember Jesus' teachings :

  1. After Jesus taught us the "Sermon on the Mount", Jesus said : "Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it has been founded on the rock. And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it." [Matthew 7:24-27]

  2. One man asked Jesus how he might have eternal life. Jesus answered that if he were to have eternal life, he should keep the commandments [Matthew 19:17].

In the commandments, e.g. the Ten Commandments, GOD taught us what to do and what not to do. Similarly, in the rest of the Commandments, GOD taught us what are the things that we should do and what are the things that we mustn't do.

This should be our standard of right and wrong.

Our life would be full of blessings, or curses, depend upon whether we keep, or break, the laws/commandments (read [Exodus 20:5-6], [Leviticus 26], [Deuteronomy 28]).

  3. The laws/commandments taught us our duties as a human being, how we should act towards parents, neighbours, kins. How we should act towards trees, animals, the land.

Failure to act such, or act against such, would bring curse.

Therefore GOD told Joshua in [Joshua 1:8] : "This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success."

  4. Jesus : "If your right eyes causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell." [Matthew 5:29].

What is sin ? Sin is breaking the law/commandments (read [1 John 3:4]).

Be mindful of the awful consequences of sin. For what we do to others (whether good or bad), will be done manifold onto us according to the justice in GOD's laws.

Satan, fallen angels, evil spirits are always here to tempt us, without our knowing -- they are invisible. Therefore beware. Resist sin resolutely as taught by Jesus.

Do not fear Satan/fallen angels/evil spirits.

Do not fear the wicked. For the power of Jesus is immense, very immense.

It is Jesus who has the final say in all things, not the wicked.

  5. Jesus : "If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love." [John 15:10]

Jesus came to fulfill the laws/commandments.

Jesus taught us not only to keep the commandments, but to teach others the commandments [Matthew 5:17-20].

Look to Jesus and not to the Pharisees in keeping the commandments, otherwise you will find it difficult and wearisome to keep the commandments.

When accused by Satan/fallen angels/evil spirits, then review your acts, and ask yourself : "Is this act guilty in the sight of GOD ?". You should know that GOD would never condemn the guiltless, nor overlook the really guilty.

  6. Jesus : "If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him." [John 14:23]

Many "Christians" nowadays would say : "Jesus, come and live in my heart and be my lord", and then do NOTHING -- They do not learn the teachings of Jesus, do not walk the teachings of Jesus; and have no sense of right/wrong because they do not study the Commandments. The consequence of such is a life of bewilderment and uncertainty and sin -- not a life of joy and peace like those who walk the teachings of GOD and of Jesus resolutely.

Jesus will never live in the heart of such a one. Instead some evil spirit(s) will find opportunity to enter his/her heart, and leading him/her slowly to hell, when all the while he/she will think that it is the HOLY SPIRIT that dwell in his/her heart.

  7. Jesus : "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled with the HOLY SPIRIT." [Matthew 5:6]

This is the sure way to have one's heart filled with the HOLY SPIRIT. Look at the little children when yet undefiled by this godless and sinful world, and learn from them. (Also take out the photos of you when you were very, very little, and look at your old self). Look at righteous deeds by other people and learn from them.

Hunger and thirst after righteousness, and not hunger and thirst after gourmet food as is widely advertised on TV nowadays, or adulteries, for GOD taught us to "circumcise our heart", that is, cut our heart off from the pursue of pleasures -- gourmet food, adultery, heroin, ...

Instead, we should pursue the righteousness of GOD.

  8. Jesus : "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man (i.e. Jesus), and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise up him at the last day." [John 6:53-54]

That is to say, we have to learn the teachings of Jesus, walk his teachings, and imitate his behaviour. His attitudes should be our attitudes.

Just as a woman would look at a photo of a man/woman which she wish to give birth to, so we should always "look at" Jesus in our mind.

  9. Jesus : "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me, you can do NOTHING. If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned." [John 15:4-6]

Jesus is the creator, Jesus is God of heaven and earth.

We should cleave to Jesus as a waistcloth clings to the loin of man [Jeremiah 13:1-11] by learning and walking his teachings resolutely. His teachings may be found in the gospel books of [Matthew, Mark, Luke, John].

Trust in him in all things, trust in his goodwill in all situations --whether good or bad, unless you are a law breaker, then FEAR HIM, and repent and make amends.

  10. Jesus : "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." [Matthew 18:3-4]

It is recorded in [Matthew 19:13-15] --

Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people; but Jesus said : "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." And he laid his hands on them and went away.

Bible teaches us many things pertaining to our body, and the above are what I have found useful over the years. You can discover more. Pray to GOD to guide you in studying the Bible. Also, I am human, made from dust, and I am liable to mistakes, therefore exercise care and judgment, which you should do always.
