Jesus the Messiah or Not

My thoughts,

  1. Jesus was a "clone", or "duplicate" created by Yehovah. Therefore Jesus was GOD condescending in human form, and

teachings of Jesus = Teachings of Almighty GOD.

  2. The Laws, the physical aspect, e.g. sacrifice a ram/sheep/ox is no longer needed. These were set up to remind us every day, that we should be meek as a sheep on the moment of slaughter, submitting to the will of Yehovah all the times. But now Jesus was submissive to the will of LORD, to die on the cross, even though he has done nothing wrong in the sight of LORD (Jesus would have been blessed abundantly, because of LORD's promise in the Ten Commandments and Moses' Deut.) sacrificing sheep/ox/ram are no longer needed. (More on this if we wish to discuss it further, but let us stop at this.) But the moral aspect of laws/commandments will last to eternity, not a dot, iota will be taken away, as LORD's principle is

    KEEP THE LAWS/COMMANDMENTS => BLESSING
    BREAK THE LAWS/COMMANDMENTS => CURSE

This has been true in the past, and will be true in the future.

  3. Ever since Adam ate the tree of the "Knowledge of good and evil", the criteria men use is "good to us, or evil to us", and not "right in the sight of LORD, wrong in the sight of LORD". Because of Adam/Eve, nearly all mankind inherited this thinking "good to us, or evil to us" and therefore they fall short of Yehovah's righteousness, as GOD = TRUTH (pardon me, I use LORD, Yehovah, GOD, Almighty, .... interchangeably). Therefore it can be said that all men are sinful. Jesus, because he did only that was right in the sight of LORD, even at the peril of his life, provided us with a model to lead our life (probation, living in "booth") here on earth.

P.S. I am a Chinese, are all of you Jews, children of Judah/Benjamin ?

(Note : in response to Jesus the Messiah or Not)

Marta,

Kindly listen to my views, they will be indicated by another W:

W: (1) Jesus was a "clone", or "duplicate" created by Yehovah. Therefore Jesus was GOD condescending in human form, and teachings of Jesus = Teachings of Almighty GOD.

M: But for this to be possible G-d would have to be finite, because a clone is an exact copy of the original (well, at least in theory), and how do you make a finite copy (i.e., restricted to the human body) out of an infinite being?

W: One has to learn and learn and learn and also walk in LORD's/Jesus' teachings in order to understand LORD, because LORD = TRUTH.

In [Book of Job], LORD asked Job lots of questions [Chapters 38-41], ranging from zoology to astrophysics. The reason why LORD asked Job is that LORD wanted Job to learn more. If you study Mathematics, Electronics, Engineering, Quantum Physics, ..... more and more, one day you will have better understanding of LORD, who is eternal TRUTH. Also, it is my advice to avoid philosophical talks, but walks in LORD's/Jesus' teachings, and one day, we will understand.

Clone, I mean "software" only. Jesus had the same thinking as LORD. (But Jesus is not equal to TRUTH, Jehovah is TRUTH.)

I don't know if you know computer programming or not. The computer program can reflect the programmer's way of handling things. The "DNA" of Jesus, was created by LORD in His likeness.

W: (2) The Laws, the physical aspect, e.g. sacrifice a ram/sheep/ox is no longer needed. (More on this if we wish to discuss it further, but let us stop at this.)

M: It's interesting. Even as someone raised in Orthodox Judaism, I don't believe when the temple is rebuilt, it will be used for animal sacrifices. Oh, I have no problem if this is the way it falls out, but I think it will be more like people who need financial help can ask for help there, and when you should offer a sacrifice, you would instead make a monetary donation of a comparable amount. Or maybe you would have the option. I don't know, something along that line.

W: In [Ezekiel], in the new temple to be built, there will again be peace offering, guilt offering, sin offering. When I said that those offerings are no longer needed, I mean they are "voluntary", as against "compulsory". If someone wishes to offer peace offering, one could do it. The meat of the peace offering, except breast and right thigh, are to be eaten by the one who offers it together with one's poor neighbours. Sin offering is to be eaten by the Levites/Priests who work for LORD. Therefore, I can see the good in these offerings. We often make "errors", "mistakes" in life that hurt others, thus it is good to have some ways -- peace offerings, guilt offerings -- for us to make amends.

Again, after Jesus, it is "voluntary" and no longer "compulsory".

W: But the moral aspect of laws/commandments will last to eternity, not a dot, iota will be taken away, as LORD's principle is

KEEP THE LAWS/COMMANDMENTS => BLESSING
BREAK THE LAWS/COMMANDMENTS => CURSE

M: I couldn't agree more. But where do you draw the line between the two. Are we now allowed to wear cloth of mixed types of thread? Are we allowed to eat ham?

W: In [Genesis 9], we know that LORD allowed us to eat everything, EVERYTHING, including unclean beasts/insects/fish/birds. It is because of this that people after Noah ate a lot of unclean things that their health deteriorated. Therefore LORD taught Moses and the Israelites to eat those "clean" food. Again, it is voluntary today, not compulsory (except blood).

As for clothes, I like to wear clothes made of 100% cotton, or 100% flax, but how can one buy such clothes today ? Mostly they are a mix of synthetic and natural fibres. If we wear such clothes, it only makes us uncomfortable, if we eat ham, it would only ruin our physical health (if that ham contain some worms which are common in pork), our spirit is not affected.

But still we cannot eat blood [see Acts 15]. How to draw the demarcation line ? Your conscience will guide you, and prayers, if that is too difficult, will help.

W: (3) Ever since Adam ate the tree of the "Knowledge of good and evil", the criteria men use is "good to us, or evil to us", and not "right in the sight of LORD, wrong in the sight of LORD".

M: I personally think that good and evil are pretty much human constructs. On the human level there's absolute good and evil, but good is whatever G-d does, so good and evil lose its meaning.

W: NO. When LORD created Adam and Eve, they were very pure, much like a child of age 5 or 6. They knew not of "good or evil" but meek and submissive and obedient to their Creator, their heavenly father LORD. This is the reason why Jesus said to the people : "Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greattest in the kingdom of heaven." [Mt 18:3-4] Even Confucius (or his students) taught us to have "the heart of a new born", because "new born" has very pure heart.

In the New Heaven and New Earth, only child-like people will be there, because child-like people have pure hearts, and LORD will allow no unclean, unholy people to have eternal life.

When one grows older and older, one learns a lot of bad things, bad precepts. Therefore Jesus, who was a clone of Jehovah, taught us that we must repent, throw away all those unclean precepts we learn in the course of life, and become like little child, or else we would never be able to enter the kingdom of LORD, to know of the joy and peace of Adam, Eve as LORD first created them (human beings).

W: Therefore it can be said that all men are sinful.

M: For me, since good and evil don't really have any meaning except at the human level, good is doing what is good for G-d's creation, and evil is doing what is bad's for G-d's creation. So while man may have blinders on and only see what is good for him, not all of creation, this is something that can be overcome. By a closer walk with G-d, which I believe goes hand-in-hand with doing the mitzvot. The mitzvot are contact points with the divine. It is us putting aside our self-centered blinders and doing something that does not benefit us.

W: Ever since godly men wrote books, devilish men also wrote books pretending to be words from GOD. And it is very DIFFICULT to make out which books were written by pretenders or which books were written by godly persons.

It is a sad things that Jews inherited a lot of books from devilish men and Jews of old lacked the discerning power to see the devilish precepts in them, and their children do not have the courage, nor knowledge to refute those.

Salvation is very simple, walk Jesus' teachings, and one day, one will understand fully. WALK, WALK, WALK the teachings, and one day, one will understand; avoid philosophical talks, it is dangerous. Avoid "deep things", because most of them are from Satan. LORD's precepts are usually very plain and simple, that even a child could understand.

Marta, is it true that the books in theology college contain most of the books of Jews ? Or do you have other books unknown to the outside world ? I am very curious on this, and I would be grateful if you would tell me.

W: Jesus, because he did only that was right in the sight of LORD, even at the peril of his life, provided us with a model to lead our life (probation, living in "booth") here on earth.

M: I think Joshua led an incredibly connected life. But it was not perfect. He committed lashon hara, gave people a bad name, when he should have criticized them in private. He cursed a tree when that is a clear-cut sin. He did not give the proper respect to the law-givers, the kohenim. He led a much better life than anyone else, but not a perfect one.

I know this sounds like heresy. But I believe that most of the people in this group can see what I am saying for what it is. Wu, you strike me as incredibly open-minded, much more so than all the Christians I have met in the U.S. Are all Christians outside of the US, this open-minded, or is it just you?

W: It is because Jews have wrong idea of LORD. You must have read [1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles]. LORD GOD found King David to have done only ONE sin in his whole life! (the murder of Uriah by the sword of the Ammonites).

LORD is merciful, would not condemn the guiltless, and would never be fault-finding. If one is apt to fault-finding (like the Pharisees of old), would condemn the guiltless, one would make one's neighbour wearisome, and life would be a wearisome thing, and joy will depart from life.

Therefore strive to deepen one's understanding of LORD, and put LORD's name before us : MERCIFUL, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast LOVE, faithfulness, FORGIVING, jealous against iniquity.

Wu Siu Yan

P.S. A child would never find fault with his/her playmates, although he/she may be displeased at gross injustices and wrongs, but never find fault. That is, they will never condemn the guiltless.

Reason why LORD taught Adam and Eve not to eat the tree of the "knowledge of good and evil"

I have to clarify on this, because of the misunderstanding it caused. What I mean is that we should never use the criteria "is it good to us ? or evil to us?" when making decisions, though one is often tempted to think along that line.

For example, LORD taught us :

LORD : "You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another." [Lev. 19:11]

Here LORD makes it very clear that we should deal honestly, uprightly, and speak the truth at all times. (Cf. Jesus : "Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil." [Mt. 5:37])

It is because LORD = TRUTH, LORD would not tolerate falsehood. And we should never practice falsehood, but obey LORD to be honest, upright, and speak the truth at all times. Otherwise, we sin against TRUTH.

But on many occasions, we think that following LORD's teachings would lead us to serious troubles/inconveniences (or even death), and we are tempted to do otherwise, throwing LORD's teachings aside.

Still on many occasions, we throw away LORD's teachings because we are deceived to believe that "we are doing good to our neighbour/society". When we use an illegal process (in LORD's sight), we are actually doing harm to our neighbours/society and sin against TRUTH, instead of what we thought "we are doing good to our neighbour/society".

We MUST never throw the Laws/Commandments of LORD aside (it is blessing or curse, life or death to us), we must trust in the mercy of LORD, and have faith in the power of Jehovah to change the course of events, and do only that is lawful and right in His sight, no matter what. Hence in making decisions, our thought process is very simple : "Is it right in the sight of LORD (lawful and right) ? or is it wrong in the sight of LORD ?" and never "Is it good to us ? or evil to us ?"

Woman in general has a tendency to think along that line, therefore it is why there were few woman prophets than man prophets (Deborah [Judges 4] being an exception. If they make changes, there can be more woman prophets). Also, in the Bible, women were not entrusted with important tasks, but men were, also for the same reason. (I think, perhaps, it is inborn "mother nature" to protect her children that they think that way).

After Eve was tempted to be disobedient, and she tempted her husband to be disobedient, to eat that "tree of the knowledge of good and evil", human being is apt to think along that line "Is it good to us ? or evil to us ?" and have no faith in LORD, and throw the teachings of LORD behind. But Jesus never thought along that line, and by his death, straying not from the teachings of LORD, he saved mankind from the error since Adam/Eve.

(Note : in response to Jesus the Messiah or Not)

Marta,

Here again I express my views after W:

W : About "tree of the knowledge of good and evil", please read my other post, because I think it is so important that it deserves a separate post.

W: Ever since godly men wrote books, devilish men also wrote books pretending to be words from GOD. And it is very DIFFICULT to make out which books were written by pretenders or which books were written by godly persons.

M: Do you accept that the Torah is from God? The Torah tells us that we can tell false prophets by whether what they do agrees with the Torah; it is to be our measuring stick. Why can this same rule not be applied to writing?

W: Yes. Jesus taught us that the main precepts in Torah are "justice, mercy, faithfulness (keeping one's promise)". But there are many teachings from Jesus not taught in Torah, e.g. "Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greattest in the kingdom of heaven." [Mt 18:3-4]

I think we can use this measuring stick to measure against most books, that the books must agree in spirit and in truth with those in the Torah to be accepted. However, personally, I use the whole Bible (American Standard Version), all the teachings of LORD and of Jesus in the Bible, as my measuring stick, I have not used Torah alone in judging other books.

W: Avoid "deep things", because most of them are from Satan. LORD's precepts are usually very plain and simple, that even a child could understand.

M: I am curious, how do you view Satan?

W: Satan is one of the angels created by LORD. But when Satan has learned many things (what he thought enough), he became proud and would not submit to his creator, Jehovah. He rebelled. Therefore, it is important that we do not become proud, thinking that we know a lot, but "humble like a child, and cleave to LORD like a waist cloth", in order not to follow his footstep. In truth, we know very little, especially in this high tech age, where computer, nuclear physics, .... have all advanced a lot.

You can read more about Satan from Books of Enoch (two of Enoch's books are available on the Internet).

Are not all our "softwares" from our creator, Jehovah ?

W: Marta, is it true that the books in theology college contain most of the books of Jews? Or do you have other books unknown to the outside world? I am very curious on this, and I would be grateful if you would tell me.

M: There's no "conspiracy" books we keep hidden (at least not that I've ever heard of, nothing like the Protocols. The major holy books: the Written Torah (the Five Books of Moses), The Prophets and the Writings (the rest of the Christan Hebrew Scriptures), the Oral Torah (the Mishnah, which is believed to have been received at Sinai but only written down when Jews started being forced to not live in Palestine), the Gemarra (commentary on the Mishnah, which is considered God-inspired, not divine), Kabbalah (again, divinely-inspired, not divine), and the various seferim (writings of the great sages throughout the years, most notably Maimonides). The Mishnah and the Gemarra combine to form the Talmud. Some of these, most notably, the Talmud and the Kabbalah aren't really meant to be studied by those without a good Jewish education, but they aren't hidden from the world. Whether your library has them is totally a different question.

W: I haven't read the books other than the Bible (Torah being the first 5 books in Old Testament). This is my worries, my deep worries, that those books may contain many "deep things of Satan" that can easily lead one astray.

M: Where is this written? I've read the account of David's life, but not the part about his only committing one sin.

W: This is in [1 Kings 15:5]

"... because David did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite."

I am sorry, the acts of David were recorded mostly in the books of Samuel.

Wu Siu Yan

(Note : in response to Jesus the Messiah or Not)

D: then how do you reconcile this with John 14:6, which says "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but through Me"?

Wu : I truly agree that we must walk the teachings of Jesus in order to have life, in order to understand truth, and to come before Jehovah. I have personal testimony to it. I walk Jesus' teachings in "Sermon on the Mount", (and his other teachings in the Gospels) for many years, and during that time, I studied Maths, electronics, computer, ..... then after some 20 years, I begin to understand who Jehovah is. As for the question of "trinity", let us leave it, it is not worthwhile to spend time on it.

Questions (1)

Since I am a Chinese, there are lots of things in the Bible that I wish to know about the Jews/Israelites. I would be grateful if the Jews/Israelites in this group could help me.

I hope to ask a few at a time. (so I hope to ask Questions (2), Questions (3) ....)

  1. Is the calendar used in the Bible based on lunar calendar ? The traditional Chinese calendar is based on the moon, so that the first day of a month coincides with new moon, and 15th of the month coincides with full moon ?

  2. Do Jews still celebrate "Feast of Passover" ? in what form (kill a male lamb a year old and roast it whole, break no a bone)? Why do they celebrate it ? What is the rationale behind such celebration ?

  3. Do Jews still celebrate "Feast of Booth", and live in "booths/tents" for 7 days from 15th-seventh month to 22th-seventh month ? Why do they celebrate it ? What is the rationale behind such celebration ?

  4. Do they still celebrate "Festival of Harvest" ? Why do they celebrate it ? What is the rationale behind such celebration ?

  5. Do they still celebrate on the 1st day of seventh month ? Why do they celebrate it ? What is the rationale behind such celebration ?

  6. Do they still celebrate "Atonement day", on the 10th day of seventh month ? Why do they celebrate it ? What is the rationale behind such celebration ?

Wu Siu Yan

Questions (2)

  1. We have many ancient books on the Internet, e.g. Books by Enoch.

    1. In what language was it originally written ? That is, what language Enoch used ?

    2. On what media was it written ? on the skin of sheep ?

  2. The "lost tribes" were dispersed by the king of Assyria some 2600 years ago, what languages did they use at that time, and on what media did they write ?

My idea on "Passover"

Meaning of Feast of Passover

LORD taught us to rest 1 day every 6 days, 1 week every 6 months, 1 year every 6 years, 2 consecutive years every 50 years.

LORD also taught the female to rest 7 days at menstruation, 40 days after giving birth to a boy, and 80 days after giving birth to a girl. [Lev 12].

(NOTE : Many working women would not rest at menstruation, would only rest a few days after giving birth, because they have not heard of LORD's teachings. If you would give heed to LORD, you should make remedy. e.g. If you have given birth to a boy and a girl, then your rest should be 40 + 80 = 120 days = 4 months. Discuss it frankly with your marriage partner, with your family members, and with your boss, whether he would be willing to give you leave of 4 months (suspend pay), or 2 months in the following 2 years.)

A car needs replacement parts, so is our body. We need rest so that our body can repair itself. Continuous working without rest will wear out our body parts, and we will become sick.

Feast of Passover is from 14th day to the 21st day (lunar Calendar, which is the week after full moon) of the first month.

LORD taught us not to appear before Him empty-handed [Ex 23:15]. What we have earned in 6 months, we should not spend all the money ourselves, but use some towards the poor and needy, the orphans and widows. We should buy nutritous food and invite them to our house to have a joyous time together.

Most important of all is to remember our Lord Jesus, who was so humble and meek, and was so obedient to the will of LORD, to give up his life on the cross. The present world is a difficult world for Christians, and very often, we are tempted to take vengeance with our own hand, and forget Jesus teachings of "bear the cross to follow him every day" [Luke 9:23].

Remember brother Peter's words about Lord : "... because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin; no guile was found on his lips. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly. " [1 Peter 2:21-23]

LORD set up many angels to oversee every matters in this Universe (the rise and fall of kingdoms, human, animal, plants, rain, the sun, which is a huge, huge nuclear power plant, ....) Thus there are angels to administer justice on Earth according to LORD's Laws. But if we are to take vengeance with our own hand, we break LORD's Laws too, and we too will be punished.

Brother Enoch (who lived 365 years and did not taste death) taught us also : " Endure for the sake of the Lord every wound, every injury, every evil word and attack. If ill-requitals befall you, return them not either to neighbour or enemy, because the Lord will return them for you and be your avenger on the day of great judgment, that there be no avenging here among men." [Book of Enoch 50:4-5]

Lord Jesus' word about recompense : "Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you." [Mt 5:11] (NOTE : LORD may give us "software", "talents" as recompense !)

Thus every year we remember Lord Jesus, and remember the importance of "patient endurance, endure to the end, obedient to LORD's and Lord's teachings onto death".

There are minor points to observe during this festival, e.g. "do not eat any of it raw or boiled with water, but roasted, its head with its legs and its inner parts. And you shall let none of it remain until the morning, ..." [Ex 12:9] "In one house shall it be eaten; you shall not carry forth any of the flesh outside the house; and you shall not break a bone of it." [Ex 12:46].

My understanding of this is (it may be wrong, and be free to point out my errors) that we should keep it SIMPLE, and observe SAFETY. If we are to cook many dishes, each with elaborate preparation, and to take the food to our neighbors instead of inviting them to our house, we would be so tired out that we attempt once, and will not do it again. But the festival is meant to be a time of rest for us, and a time to eat more food to restore our energy.

My idea on "Feast of Booth"

Meaning of Feast of Booth

Feast of Booth is from 15th to 22nd of 7th month of the year, which is the week after full moon.

It is a time to rest after half a year's work. Thus we should rest and eat a little more nutritious food. Also not to forget the needy and afflicted. At least, give them and us a joyous time for a week.

We do not know why we are here in this world. And after some years, we will not be in this world.

If we are obedient to the teachings of LORD, and of Jesus, when we depart, we will return to our Creator. And after the final Judgement day, where all brothers and sisters will be resurrected to a New Heaven and New Earth, we will live forever with them, and with LORD - who is TRUTH.

Thus our life here is like "camping". We stay for a while, and very soon, we will have to pack up and go.

Therefore, we should have proper attitude towards the material belongings, the money we have, and be generous and gracious to the poor and needy. See, how many good brothers and sisters have donated money to social needs.

Feast of Booth is a year by year reminder of our temporal stay.

I think it is also a time for our kids to learn "survival" skills ! They learn how to set up booth/camp, how to fetch water, how to make fire and cook in the wild, how to serve the guests - the poor and needy. They may learn from the more experienced too ! They may make new friends, both of their age as well as older than they, as well as reinforcing their relations with their parents. How good is it to have brothers and sisters, who love LORD, and who love one another, to be together, though only 1 week in a year. It is a great respite in this world full of pressures.

LORD taught us to take "fruit of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook" [Lev 23:40]. My understanding (which may be wrong) is that these may kill germs in the air, and prevent infectious disease when so crowded a people are gathered together.

My idea on "Sabbath"

Meaning of Sabbath

LORD taught us many things about the body in the Old Testament, but in the New Testament, the apostles insisted only on four commandments[1] :

  1. Eat not food sacrificed to idols
  2. Eat no blood.
  3. Eat not strangled animal, (because blood is in them).
  4. No unchastity.

Does it mean that all other commandments (especially those about body) are nullified ? And former teachings of LORD are worthless ?

LORD taught us not to touch grave, dead body, etc. Once I took a walk in the wild, and came across a site full of graves. I was tired, and there was a big grave, built of concrete and has some concrete chairs upon it. I rested there for about half an hour, then I returned home. A few days later, I had a temperature and became ill. Ever since then, I am careful not to touch those.

LORD also taught us not to touch unclean persons. I touched an unclean person, and got "scabies", causing me extreme itch. (Note: if you don't know what "scabies" are, you may read about them on the Internet. They are a kind of insect, about 0.3 to 0.5 mm long, and will live on our skins. The female will also burrow into our skin to lay eggs, making us very itchy. The usual medicine is 25% Benzyl Benzoate Emulsion, but I found that would cause deformation of skin wounds, so I switched to a mixture of "sulphur" powder mixed with cooking oil instead. Sulphur had long been used in fumigation and in bleaching organic things white.)

Also, once I travelled to Singapore. The same night I had a temperature, and I remembered LORD's teachings, and I immediately took a bath, and temperature receded the next day.

Therefore I know that all teachings of LORD are meant for our good. But as not to be wearisome to us, LORD cut them to the minimum four : "no unchastity, eat not food sacrificed to idols, ... ". In fact, it would be hard for some professions, e.g. doctors, nurses, fireman, ... to observe all the physical rules. Doctors, nurses would handle those unclean wearing gloves, and firemen, even they could not rest every sabbath, are given one day off in a week.

LORD finished his creation in 6 days. LORD created many many angels to manage everything he created : there are angels who monitor the sun (which is a vast nuclear reactor), there are angels who monitor other "suns" in the galaxies, there are angels who are responsible for the rise and fall of kingdoms/governments, there are angels to look after the plant/fish/animals, there are angels to look after rain, there are angels to bless and keep the good people, there are angels to curse the Law breakers, ....

How does LORD manage human ? By his Laws and Commandments.

Were I to write for him my laws by ten thousands, they would be regarded as a strange thing. [Hosea 8:12]

How can you say, 'We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us?' But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has made it into a lie. The wise men shall be put to shame, they shall be dismayed and taken; lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD, and what wisdom is in them? [Jer 8:9]

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your GOD, I also will forget your children. [Hosea 4:6]

Jesus : For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [Mt 5:17-20]

The "Feast of Passover" is for us to remember we must be meek and gentle and obedient onto death like Jesus, and take not vengeance with our own hand (or else we break the Law).

The "Feast of Booth" is for us to remember our temporary stay in this world, that we have proper attitudes towards the money/possession we have.

"Sabbath" is for us to remember that LORD rules the universe by his Laws, and that we must not break LORD's Laws. And that by observance of His Laws, would we have "rest" (sabbath).

"Feast of Passover", "Feast of Booth" is done once every year, but "Sabbath" is a constant reminder week after week.

Do not be misled by proud people, who do things high-handedly, thinking that they are doing great service to the world ! If you break the Law, what confidence do you have ? Even for laws of our government, if you break it, you do not have confidence to face even the policemen.

Only when you have kept the Laws, and after searching your conscience, that you have broken none of the Laws of LORD, would you have confidence to face all eventualities.

Also, you must trust the angels who administer LORD's Laws. They are extremely just, and will take no bribe, and will not show partiality. Moreover, they are under direct control of LORD.

Recompense may be not done fully in this life, just as punishment could not be done fully in this life, but justice will surely be done, as Lord Jesus, who suffered death on a cross, is now seated at the right hand of LORD, with authority over all things in heaven and on earth.

Therefore, give heed to LORD/Jesus teachings, they are meant for our good. If we hold them fast, they are a safely rail to prevent us from falling into cliffs, and will lead us safely to LORD.

I have heard of a young girl, who had been a Christian, but she longed for the life of many young people, how happy they are in parties, how happy they are in giving free vein to their passions. So she left the church and joined them. She did not find that as "happy" as she saw, and after 11 years, she returned back to her church. And the first time she came back, she cried. Real happiness cannot be found in us pursuing "vain" things, but that we be obedient to LORD, and lead an honest, upright, decent life, and in our service to our fellow people as Jesus did (wash the feet of other people).

You shall keep my sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the LORD, sanctify you. ... Wherefore, the people of Israel shall keep the sabbath, observing the sabbath throughout their generations, as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign for ever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. [Ex 31:13-17]

Troubles in this world come not in a day, nor will it go away in a day. If we hold fast Jesus teachings, this is doing the work of LORD[2], and the world will "inch" forward towards the kingdom of LORD, and it will give rest to us, as well as our neighbours.

[1] "The brethren, both the apostles and the elders, to the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greeting. Since we have heard that some persons from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions, it has seemed good to us in assembly to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who themselves will tell you the same things by word of mouth. For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what is strangled and from unchastity. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell." [Act 15:23-29]

[2] Jesus : "This is the work of GOD, that you believe in him whom he has sent." [John 6:29]

Questions (3)

  1. Do Jews let the land rest (lay fallow) 1 year every 6 years ("Sabbatical Year for the land") ? And at the same time, they rest on that year ? (I mean, is it the practice in the land of Israel to let the land rest 1 year every 6 years ?)

  2. Do Jews rest 2 years every 50 years ("Jubilee Year") ?

  3. Do Jewish women rest 1 week during menstrual uncleanness ?

  4. Do Jewish women rest 40 days (7 + 33) after giving birth to a boy, and 80 days (14 + 66) after giving birth to a girl ?

  5. Would Jews let a young fruit tree grow for 3 years without picking its fruit, and only pick the fruit after 3 years when the fruit tree becomes mature ?

  6. I often saw boys in Israel holding a book when they protest against relaxing the Sabbath. Is that book the Torah ? If it is not, what kind of book it is ?

My view on Creation

My view on creation is this :

  1. First LORD created all the angels to help Him. Much like we human make computers and robots to help us in Office work, and in manufacturing.

  2. Next, LORD created the things as in [Genesis 1], and assigned the angels to be responsible for various "management" jobs. Our "sun" is a huge nuclear reactor, and as all man-made nuclear reactor has to be precisely controlled to keep the reactor running smoothly, LORD GOD assigned some angels to run the "sun" too.

  3. LORD GOD created Jesus before He created Earth. Jesus was created in the likeness of LORD, and Jesus is to be the model human on Earth. Therefore in the Last Day, every human being will be measured against Jesus, who did nothing wrong in the sight of LORD even at the peril of great opposition from the elders/scribes/Pharisees, and painful death on the cross.

  4. Then LORD GOD created the Earth and all the plant and animals. Then many years later, he sent Jesus down to Earth to be born of Mary as human.

Re: Questions (2)

(Note : someone thought the Book of Enoch was written in Hebrew).

Thanks for the links for Books of Enoch. I have read both of them.

I am not sure it was originally written in Hebrew, because

Adam -> Seth -> Enosh -> Kenan -> Mahalalel -> Jared -> Enoch

Hence Enoch was near the time of creation.

I also know that Hebrew, as it is today, is not in its original form. Because even Egyptian (as well as Chinese) evolved from some pictographs,

Egyptian Hieroglyph -> Demotic Script -> Coptic Script -> Egyptian.

I have come across an Ancient Hebrew Website

http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/

which shows that Hebrew came from some pictographs.

Reasons why I refrain from philosophical discussions

I am sorry that it is my habit of never enter into philosophical discussions.

The reason is as follows :

If a student is to learn woodwork, theorectical discussion of wood-working will not help him much, but practical work. When the student has done some actual wood-work, then he would be able to understand what the teacher says. Without that practical experience to pave the way, mere talk will only confuse him, and add little to his understanding.

Therefore, if we follow Jesus' teachings (WALK the teachings of Jesus), one day we will know the "way, life, and Jehovah". Jesus : "I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me." [John 14:6]

Questions (4)

  1. Do Jews still practice the rituals in "Spirit of Jealousy" [Numbers 5] ? Infidelity is a serious threat to marriage, and even the suspicion of such can create much friction within family. The ritual in [Num 5] transfers that responsibility to LORD, and I think it is indispensable.

  2. "Water of Impurity" (ash from red heifer without blemish, cedar wood, scarlet stuff, hyssop), has anyone done any scientific investigation into this (any Internet link?) -- why such ash is able to kill germs ? What concentration to use (how much ash in grams to be put in 1000 cc of water) ?

  3. Do Jews still wear "tassels" as a constant reminder that they should keep LORD's Laws/commandments, and not to follow their own hearts and eyes ?

  4. Does Israel practice "death penalty"? If they practice "death penalty", do the people, including the witnesses, lay hands on the head of offender, before killing the offender? to mean they undertake willingly the responsibility for that man/woman's blood ?

  5. Do they have "City of Refugee", for manslaughter who kill his/her neighbour accidentally to flee to ?

  6. In times of old, the family members of one who is murdered has the responsibility to track down the murderer and put him/her to death ("avenger of blood"). Am my understanding correct ? Do they have similar things in Israel today ? Is it the correct interpretation of LORD's mind in Torah ? because in Hong Kong, (and probably in many places too), only the police/judiciary has the authority to do that.

Questions (5)

  1. In [Judges 13] an angel appeared to mother of Samson, telling her not to drink wine (anything from grape vine) nor strong drinks, nor eat anything unclean. Do Jewish women refrain from drinking wine and strong drink after pregnancy ?

  2. LORD taught the Israelites to practice "tithe of tithe", i.e. the lower level Levites receive all donation people give to LORD, and they pay the "tithe of tithe" to the priests. Hence the lower workers determine the salary of upper management. Is it the practice in orthodox Jewish church of today ? in Israel ?

  3. Do the people in Israel practice "slave for 6 years, on the 7th, go out free" ? I take this as employment contract (not as slavery) -- not life-long employment of the Japanese, nor short-time hire-and-fire contract employment of US, but employment contract for 6 years (though it may be converted to life-long, when the worker willing goes with his employer to the priest and has his/her ear pierced on the doorpost of temple). Employer has to provide housing, food, ... everything.

  4. Land in Israel :

    1. Do they divide the land by lot in Israel today ?

    2. Land sold automatically be reverted back to owner at Jubilee year ?

    3. House in city may be redeemed by the seller within one year ?

Personally, I think "land" is the chief cause of political instability in a country, and I think LORD's laws on land has much wisdom.

  5. Leprosy is a serious illness, and I know that most contracted that disease are going to have that for life. LORD in Torah only taught us to make the leper dwell separately. It seems to me that the leper will recover eventually. Is it true ? Has anyone here witnessed the complete recovery of leper ?

My Sadness about the Jews

When I was a small boy, at age about 5 (6 ?), one day I was walking to school, I saw a house written with a big sign "Do onto others what you wish others to do to you", in red paint and in Chinese, presumably the house owner was moved by it that he wrote on the front of his house overnight with red paint of this GOLDEN RULE of Jesus.

When I grew older, I learn more about Confucius. There is a similar saying in Confucius, "DO NOT do to others what you do not wish others to do to you."

I was still an atheist by the age of 13. Though many people talked to me about GOD.

One night on Christmas, after I attended the Christmas party held by my school and was walking home, I felt an acute sense of emptiness. The moment before I was rather happy, eating food and playing games with my school-mates, but then I felt very "empty".

When I reached home, which was 10 minutes walk from my school, I wanted to read something. So I got a book at random, and it so happened that it was a Bible given to my mother by another female Christian.

I opened the Bible, and so it happened that it was Matthew, Chapter 5, the most famous Sermon of Jesus, "Sermon on the Mount".

After I read it, I sensed the truth in Jesus' teachings, and suddenly I came to a realization of sin -- unforgiving, proud, envy/jealousy, .... all those we regard as minor bad attitudes (but sin in the sight of ETERNAL TRUTH JEHOVAH, just as "breaking faith with man = breaking faith with TRUTH"). And suddenly I realized the meaning of LOVE. I cried and repented, and became a Christian after that.

I began reading the New Testament. The gospels as well as the letters of Paul (etc.) moulded my attitude much. The love of Paul (how he endured numerous hardships to preach the love of GOD), and some of his teachings, influenced me a lot ever since.

Then I switched back to read the Old Testament. I still remember how I was moved by the act of Joseph, how he forgave and dealt kindly with his brothers. Many years later, on re-reading the Bible, I was moved again by the acts of Judah, his love towards his father Jacob, and his act of volunteering himself into prison for his brother Benjamin.

The persons in the Bible influenced me a lot : Abraham, Issac, Rebekah (wife of Issac), Jacob, Leah (wife of Jacob), Judah, Tamar (daughter-in-law of Judah), Joseph, Jethro (father-in-law of Moses), Moses, Joshua, Caleb, Gideon, Jephthah and his daughter, Samson, the Levite whose wife was gang-raped, Ruth, Boaz, Samuel, David, Jonathan (son of Saul), Mephibosheth (son of Jonathan), .... I think I know them better than many famous persons recorded in Chinese history.

It is with luck that I was not born a Jew, I read the Bible, which MUST be the work of LORD to inspire people to collect only that is worthwhile to us and not to burden us with un-necessary distractions, whereas the Jews have to learn a lot of things that distract them.

The persons in the Bible, together with the prophets, e.g. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Jonah, Amos, ... became my "friends" -- I know them and I understand them, regarding them as persons with flesh and blood.

The Jews are burdened by the errors of their ancestors, and their children cannot shake off those burdens. Even one person from the tribe of Joseph remarked some 2000 (?) years ago, (that person already knew of the Messiah from the Books of Isaiah, of Jeremiah, what kind of person the Messiah would be, how he would behave when he arrives.)

But behold, the Jews were a stiffnecked people; and they despised the words of plainness, and killed the prophets, and sought for things that they could not understand. Wherefore, because of their blindness, which blindness came by looking beyond the mark, they must needs fall; for God hath taken away his plainness from them, and delivered unto them many things which they cannot understand, because they desired it. And because they desired it God hath done it, that they may stumble.

It is prophesied in the New Testament, and that will be true, that the Jews are to be the last to believe Jesus, after all the world, the Chinese, the Indians, .... believe Jesus. Jesus' word : "The last will be first, and the first will be last" will be fulfilled.

GOD IS LOVE. Anyone who understands not LOVE will not understand GOD nor Jesus.

Wu Siu Yan

P.S. To my Jewish friends here, pardon me for thus saying, but I must speak out of my heart.

Jesus sinned when he cursed the tree ?

LORD GOD regarded wrong acts as sin, or guilt. Guilt is minor offences, whereas sin is more serious offences. Thus, there is a degree of seriousness of offences.

LORD's Laws require us to be kind to the animal too, e.g. give rest to ox/ass on Sabbath.

But, there is no law regarding "kindness to tree", as far as I know, though we should care for our environment.

Note : at the time I wrote that, it didn't come into my mind any laws about kindness to trees. But on reflection later, the law that we should not collect fruit from a fruit-tree for its first three years, years of infancy, has the spirit that we should show kindness to tree too.

When Jesus came before the tree, and could not find fruit in it, he was displeased, and he cursed the tree "that no fruit may ever come from you again." and the tree withered at once. (Same with us, if we do not bear "fruit" for a number of years, one day, LORD may cut us off suddenly, and then we will be sorrowful and grieved.)

The question is : What is Jesus guilty of in this act ? Is Jesus guilty of cruelty to the tree ? If he is so, how about all other people who cut down trees ?

We often make mistakes in life, hence LORD has set up "peace offerings", which we offer ox/ram/lamb and share meat with neighbours, as a means to amend for our minor wrongs. "Guilt, sin" offerings are more serious, so the meat goes totally to the Priests/Levites.

Jesus also taught us : "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

When David was escaping from Saul, he was hungry and he asked the priest for food, and the priest gave him holy bread (those put on table before veil of the Tabernacle opposite the lamp-stand) because he had no food on hand, and yet LORD did not count the priest nor David to have done wrong.

Also, for "offerings" to the priests, only the clean of his family may eat. But most often, his family members would become unclean because of reasons of one sort or another; yet LORD taught us, that after the sun has set, they would become clean, and may eat of the food.

"Sabbath was made for men; not men made for Sabbath."

After Jesus made himself an offering of sin; this physical aspect of offerings in laws/commandments/ordinances/statutes are no longer compulsory. The disciples of Jesus decided only 4 we have to observe strictly, [Acts 15], and this was attested by the Spirit of TRUTH,

  1. Eat not food sacrificed to idols.

  2. No unchastity.

  3. Eat not strangled animal.

  4. Eat no blood.

One day, we will stand to face the Almighty GOD before the Judgement Seat. Our confidence is that LORD is merciful, would not condemn the guiltless, would not find fault with us; just as He hadn't found fault with David. Thus if we are careful to walk His laws/commandments, and do not sin high-handedly, and endure to the end, we should be O.K.

I still observe much of physical aspects of the laws/commandments/ordinances/statutes, but I do it this way : for example, I was camping in the open, and I could not find enough water, therefore I couldn't take a bath before the sun goes down, but still, I tried to find enough water so that I can clean my whole body with towel dipped in water.

Also, if, because of circumstances, I could not rest on Sabbath, then I find one day off within the following week.

Also, I usually would rest 1 week every 6 months (similar to the requirement of "Feast of Booth", "Feast of Passover"), or 1 years in 6 years (Sabbatical year), but often the circumstance would not permit me doing so, then I wait for other convenient time, and take rest then.

Re: My Sadness about the Jews

W : It is with luck that I was not born a Jew, I read the Bible, which MUST be the work of LORD to inspire people to collect only that is worthwhile to us and not to burden us with un-necessary distractions, whereas the Jews have to learn a lot of things that distract them.

Y : An example, please?

W: Marta told me that there are many "oral" books which I think are "additions" to Torah, unnecessary distractions. LORD GOD plainly told us through Moses that we should not add, nor delete from what he told the Israelites through Moses. Are they additions ?

Also, it seems to me that you believe all books in theological college that come from the Jews to be true (or at least a majority of them). It also seems to me that you have read the Book of Jasher (I don't know if you are talking about the book of Jasher discovered by the Mormons ? or another book of Jasher ?), and I presume, that you think that it is true -- Jasher had the eyes of LORD to witness in minute details histories spanned across centuries ? Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Y : In the Last Days the Jews are going to be the ones everyone turns to. Zech. 8:23

W: Yes, but not to the Israelites in the land of Israel, (nor even those in America), they will be the last. But to the lost tribes, who are lost to the world but not lost to the LORD, and they will show up in the future, together with their history books, (much as the Bible is the history that came from the tribe of Judah/Benjamin/Levite, and Bible benefits much mankind), and their history books will contain much valuable historical lessons of extreme value to the world.

One history book of the lost tribes is available today, and that is the Book of Mormon you refuse to believe. BOM is true history of part of the tribe of Joseph, who migrated to America 600 B.C., a few years before Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem. Unfortunately, the Mayans and Native Americans, who were brothers, fought among themselves that NA killed all Mayans that the Mayan history stopped in the year 420 A.D.

One day, all NA will come to the realization that they are Israelites, and when they turn truly to LORD and become a righteous people, they will draw many to them, just as prophesied in Zechariah. By the way, the Hawaiians, the Polynesians, the Maoris, the Austrialia aborigines ... are all descendants of Mayans, and they too, one day, will become a righteous people.

Circumcision

(Note : someone quoted [Eze 44:6-9] where LORD said that no one who is uncircumcized in heart and flesh should be admitted to LORD's temple).

Yes, LORD said not to permit those uncircumcised in heart and flesh to be in his sanctuary. But let me ask you, if you were the gate-keeper, there was a person from India, who followed carefully the laws/commandments of LORD, as well as the teachings of Jesus in "Sermon on the Mount", and he pursues the name of LORD "merciful, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, abounding in faithfulness, forgiving, jealous against iniquity", and not "fleshy passions" like good food and sex (he is circumcised in heart), yet uncircumcised in flesh, would you regard him as "circumcised" or "uncircumcised" ? Would you admit him in or not ? If you admit him in, would LORD punish you ? If you admit him not in, so that he wastes lot of money and time travelling to LORD's temple to worship Him, would LORD approve of your behaviour ?

Note : This is not part of the original post, but I add it here for making "circumcision" clear.

When LORD told Abraham : "This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you : Every male among you shall be circumcised. You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you." [Gen 17:9-11], I think LORD was talking about circumcision of the heart, and cutting off the foreskin is a sign only; just as marriage ceremony between a man and a woman is not the WHOLE of marriage.

Let me ask you another question : suppose there was an Earthquake on Sabbath, and all your family members were buried, and you escaped. Would you dig them out on Sabbath or you wait another day ? Would LORD regard you to have done wrong because you broke the Sabbath ? If you wait another day, and dig for them, would LORD regard you to have done right ?

Jesus : "And if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless." [Mt 12:7]

I agree that it is good to circumcise a boy, in order to prevent him from playing with his foreskin; but the more important thing is that whether he circumcises his heart or not ? Physical circumcision is "voluntary" according to [Acts 15], but "circumcision of heart" is a MUST for all in the congregation.

Apart from these, would you kindly tell me the rest of the reasons you reject the Book of Mormon?

Christians do the laws/commandments better than Jews

Are you as strong as an ox/elephant/rhino ? Whose "hardware" is more powerful, ox or us ?

Can ox ... do Advanced Calculus ? Whose "software" is more powerful, ox or us ?

Nowadays, we can download "books, softwares" freely from the Internet. So is our relation with our Creator : we just pray, and if we pray for things worthwhile, we will receive. I usually pray twice a day (and often more), kneeling down, much like Daniel, to pray for guidance/counseling and "free softwares" from LORD. And I address Him as Jesus taught me, "Our Father in heaven, ...."

Jews are very insistent on Torah, this I think is good. However, they do not spend time thinking of the rationale behind the laws/commandments -- what was in LORD's mind when LORD wrote the Laws/Commandments.

Jews may think Christians forget the laws/commandments. No. We don't (at least true Christians don't). We follow closely Jesus teachings of "keep the laws/commandments and teach other people so"

Jesus : "Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

However, we try to understand what is the rationale behind LORD's laws/commandments. They are mainly three (1) Mercy -- show kindness and mercy to your neighbour, help your neighbour, even your enemy; love your neighbour as yourself (2) Justice -- maintain true fairness and justice and equity between all, wrong no one, (3) Faithfulness -- keeping promises. (I talk about the moral aspect, not the physical aspect, e.g. cleanliness, ...)

However, for those physical aspects, we know the rationale. In the past, when people offered sin offerings, they would see how ox/lamb willingly give up life. This they may figure out that one day, LORD may take away our life, and this we should give up willing. LORD is our creator and He can do whatever He likes to us, even say so, LORD will receive our soul back to Him.

After Jesus became the sacrificial "lamb", we have the image of Jesus on the cross firmly before us, and we no longer need such reminder; hence they become "voluntary" [Acts 15], (but not nullified, only "voluntary"); however, it is still a good practice to do something similar to "peace offering, guilt offering, sin offering" as in times past, e.g. share food with poor neighbours, help them with money, ...

True Christians would do the Torah much better than the Jews, in spirit and in truth. Whereas Jews, who keep the Laws/commandments the Pharisee's way, actually do a great dis-service to Jehovah, the kind, merciful Heavenly Father of all creation.

Voice pretending to be Holy Ghost ?

(Note : I wrote the following because I thought one member was being beguiled by voices pretending to be the Holy Ghost.)

Have you read the book by Delgado (a military doctor) "Physical control of the mind",

http://www.angelfire.com/or/mctrl/delgado.htm

that book is published in 1969, and there are photos of transmitting and receiving brain-wave from monkeys.

Therefore I think today man is able to transmit sound to us using electronic means. Even if not, demons may pretend to be the Holy Ghost and speak to us.

Therefore when ideas (or even voices) enter me, my thinking is : IS IT OF TRUTH ? and my motto is "WHAT IS RIGHT, AND NOT WHO IS RIGHT", "TRUTH AND TRUTH ONLY".

I long to have the experience of Adam/Eve, to talk directly to LORD much like they and Moses did, but I am cautious about this electronic and the devices of Satan/demons.

Please kindly teach me how to distinguish voice from demons (or even human) pretending to be the Holy Ghost and the voice of LORD ?

No, I am not attacking Jews. When I wrote that, I have Y in mind, because he actively promotes book of Maccabees (which I think "blind guides" leading the blind). If you read my post, I say, "true Christians". Those who know not Ten Commandments are not true Christians.

By the way, have you read all my previous posts ? so that you can form better judgement of what I mean when I said those things ?

What are the reasons that led you to think I am attacking the Jews ? Kindly point out the falsities in my sayings, I am listening.

P.S.

Teaching of Confucius and etc.

Confucius : "If one is very skillful in speech (ability to please others), and changes as one observes your facial expression, that person would rarely be a righteous person."

There is another Chinese saying, "An upright speech, though we would not like to hear, is usually good for amending our conduct. A bitter medicine, which is hard for our mouth, is usually good for curing illness."

Even LORD taught the Israelites not to listen to lies. There happened sometimes in Israel that the people hated one who spoke the truth, and liked listening to lies that pleased them,

"They hate him that rebukes in the gate, and they abhor him that speak uprightly." [Amos 5:10]

Solomon taught us not to flatter others, for that would ruin him/her, "And a flattering mouth worketh ruin." [Prov 26:28]

Jesus taught us to be humble as a child. And he said, "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled; and whosoever shall humble himself shall be exalted." [Mt 23:12]

There is another Chinese saying, "If someone rebukes you for a wrong you haven't done, don't be angry. Search your heart first, if you really have done that wrong, correct it. If you haven't done that wrong, take it as an reminder, reinforcing your notion of that act being wrong and abstain from it forever." This may be applied to situation when someone teaches us a thing we already know -- just take that as a revision, and thank that person.

(*) First Book inside Book of Mormon ("The First Book of Nephi")

(*) Book of Mormon (You may find "Book of Ether" there, as Book of Mormon is a collection of many small books.)

Reasons why I disbelieve the Book of Jasher that came from the Mormons

I am a Chinese. All kings in China, ever since King Qin, who built the great wall, would assign someone to be historians, and they wrote down the histories. Therefore we have the OFFICIAL histories of all dynasties since Dynasty Qin.

But there were many people, who would extract information from the official history, and wrote novels out of them, or even "plays".

These we read strictly as novels, not as TRUE HISTORY.

I think Jasher extracted information from the actual history books, and added in details of his own imagination, and pretended to be TRUE HISTORY. He has to give account of this before LORD GOD in the Judgement Day.

Re: Christians do the laws/commandments better than Jews

Y : What do you mean by "the pharisee's way" Wu? I'm curious especially since Jesus was a Pharisee.

Wu : As far as I know, Jesus was taken by his parents to Egypt after birth, and on the death of Herod, his parents brought him back to Israel, but fear of their safety, they settled in Nazareth.

Though Jesus went to the temple and asked the Jews during the festivals when his parents went to Jerusalem, I have never heard of Jesus joining the Pharisee sect nor practiced what they practiced.

What are the reasons that you said that Jesus was a Pharisee ? LORD demands absolute honesty and uprightness, did you say this in uprightness and in integrity of heart ?

In the old days, men travelled mainly on foot or on donkey, and Israel is large, roughly 40 miles by 120 miles. Imagine you a cripple or sick and walked many miles, searching for Jesus all the way, and found Jesus on Sabbath. Should Jesus heal or not? I think Jesus would very much want to rest on Sabbath.

If you were the only doctor in a village, would you save or not on Sabbath ? Yet the Pharisees accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath. This is what I meant keeping the Laws/Commandments the Pharisee's way.

You plainly told me that you would dig your family members out on Sabbath should there be an earthquake that buried them all.

Wu Siu Yan

If you were GOD, which would you prefer ?

The priests had to offer lamb in the morning and in the evening, on the Sabbaths, and on all holidays (Feast of Passover, Atonement Day, Feast of Harvest, First Day of Seventh Month, Feast of Booth) with exact number of rams/sheep/goat as offerings together with drink offering and cereal offerings. This is mainly to show the priest that they should be submissive as "lamb" as to the will of LORD. After Jesus' submissiveness to death on the cross, what purpose do those rituals still serve ?

When one keeps fully Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, which laws/commandments of LORD would one break ?

If you were GOD looking down, which group of people do you think would be more righteous, if you were the Creator, and thus heavenly father of all those you create, which way would you wish your "sons/daughter" to live,

  1. those who keep firmly Jesus' teachings in Sermon on the Mount, that they are child-like, meek and gentle, have pure hearts like that of a child, and humble as a child, and love one another earnestly in heart, and wash one another' feet, i.e. serving one another willingly and in love.

  2. those who keep the Torah the old way, without understanding the true rationale behind the laws/commandments?

Wu Siu Yan

Re: Regarding Yeshuah (written mainly for Christians who break laws and commandments yet rely on the name of Jesus)

Even for the same offence, the punishment for

  1. ordinary people,
  2. people that hold public office,
  3. elder,
  4. priest

are not the same. [Lev 4]

Those who know laws/commandments will be judged more severely than those who have never heard of them, and are ignorant of them.

Therefore I hold fast LORD's teachings to Joshua,

LORD : "Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go." [Joshua 1:2-9]

I also remember constantly how LORD commended Solomon when he was young and when he walked RESOLUTELY in LORD's Laws/commandments (he failed at old age because of "sex").

Life will never be easy; temptations, troubles are here anytime, anywhere. We are on "probation" here; those who pass the "probation" will enter New Heaven and New Earth, those who fail will not.

I also hold fast Jesus' teachings : "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell." [Mt 5:29-30]

Do not be surprised when you encounter trials as if by "fire"; this is necessary. Hold fast LORD's, Jesus' teachings resolutely onto death, and ENDURE TO THE END, putting your whole faith on the mercy of LORD, and pray to Him constantly, and you will pass.

Jesus : "Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.' " [Mt 7:21-23]

Those who trespass because of weaknesses and later confess and repent may be forgiven, and usually will be forgiven; but still they have to endure the consequences of their trespass, as 100% justice will be administered, and one has to pay the "last penny" [Mt 5:26]; therefore be careful to walk LORD's Laws/commandments, LORD set them up to help us avoid "snares" of life.

But those "Christians" who trample LORD/Jesus' words, and sin high-handedly will never be forgiven; as they cannot nail Jesus a second time on the cross for their sin.

Name of Jesus is not a "ticket for no accountability" as many "Christians" believe.

I am not a Mormon

W : Since you've mentioned the Book of Mormon, might I ask if you consider yourself Mormon? If so, have you received your patriarchal blessing, and if you have what tribe of Israel were you supposed to have descended from?

Wu : No. I am not a Mormon, and I am against the practices of the Mormon Church. I hope you would log in to my homepage (should it be working), and click "English", and scroll down to item (14), and find my various essays against the practices of Mormons.

e.g.

The reasons why I think "Doctrine and Covenants" of LDS is false (LDS = Mormon Church)

(It may not be working, should it be, kindly tell me, and I will copy and paste the webpage here)

I only believe that BOM is true history of Mayans for the time period 600 B.C. to 420 A.D. Mayan were children of Joseph, the son of Jacob, whom he placed before Reuben his first born, and above all his other sons (except perhaps Judah).

Do not exalt ourself, but humble as a child. LEARN AND DO THE TEACHINGS EVERYDAY

We are not as strong as an elephant, because LORD gives elephant better "hardware".

Elephant cannot do Advanced Calculus, because LORD gives us better "software".

Since all our "hardware" and "software" are from LORD, we should not boast over an elephant because of our software, nor the elephant boast over us because of its hardware.

Let us be humble, and pray to LORD (for "freeware download" !) for "softwares" like "kindness, mercy, meekness, humility, graciousness, .... " and then use them everyday. If we just download a software, and do not practice using it, it is nothing. Just as a friend gives you Microsoft's Office, and you learn not, nor practice not, that software is nothing. But if you learn, and practice it day after day, it becomes an extremely useful tool.

Suggestion for change of rules (to include discussion on the lost tribes)

I think, in discussing the Hebrew-root of Christianity, it is impossible not to involve the tribe of Joseph, nor the other lost tribes; and we cannot restrict ourselves just to the tribe of Judah/Benjamin/Levite in Israel today.

The tribe of Joseph is large,

  1. All native Americans in USA and Canada (Lamanites, son of Lehi from the tribe of Joseph)

  2. All remaining Mayans in Alaska, Mexico, South America (Mayans, or Nephites, son of Lehi from the tribe of Joseph)

  3. All Hawaiians, Polynesians, Maoris, Australia Aborigines, .... (Mayans, or Nephites, son of Lehi from the tribe of Joseph)

LORD exalted Judah in the old days, as David, Jesus all came from Judah. Now, I think, LORD will place Joseph in a prominent position. It is not surprising, as Jacob put Joseph, Judah above all his sons, including Reuben the first born.

As for the other lost tribe, I suspect one is in China, in the river near "Lee Kiang", who had a very ancient language and who build a marvelous city utilizing the river. However, it is just my guess. (Remember the lost tribes were dispersed more than 2600 years from today, and their language may evolve along different paths! All those priestly people learned a language handed down generation from generation since Adam, and they wrote in the most ancient language.)

Therefore I suggest the following change of rule : people may discuss BOM here (tribe of Joseph, or even other lost tribes), but if the discussion becomes contentious, Y or M can step in, and call for "cooling off period" for some time, say, 2 weeks; or stop the discussion, permit no further discussion altogether, and urge those to continue their discussions in bom-debate talkgroup.

Hear the words in the Bible (1)

Whom will he teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, those taken from the breast ? For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.

Nay, but by men of strange lips and with an alien tongue the LORD will speak to this people, to whom he has said, "This is rest; give rest to the weary; and this is repose"; yet they would not hear. Therefore the word of the LORD will be to them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little; that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. [Is 28:9-13]

How can you say, 'We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us' ? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has made it into a lie. The wise men shall be put to shame, they shall be dismayed and taken; lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD, and what wisdom is in them? [Jer 8:8-9]

Woe to those who decrees iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression, to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!

What will you do on the day of punishment, in the storm which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth ? Nothing remains but to crouch among the prisoners or fall among the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still. [Is 10:1-4]

For he is our GOD, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

O that today you would hearken to his voice!

Harden not your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your fathers tested me, and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. For forty years I loathed that generation and said, "They are a people who err in heart, and they do not regard my ways." Therefore I swore in my anger that they should not enter my rest. [Ps 95:7-11]

Because this people draw near with their mouth and honour me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men learned by rote; therefore, behold, I will again do marvellous things with this people, wonderful and marvellous; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discernment men shall be hid. [Is 29:13-14]

Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. [Jer 6:16]

Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD : though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken. [Is 1:18-20]

Hear the words in the Bible (2)

Please read the whole [Is 58]

When you come to appear before me, who requires of you, this trampling of my courts?

Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and sabbath and the calling of assemblies -- I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.

Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me, I am weary of bearing them.

When you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will no listen; your hands are full of blood.

Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow. [Is 1:12-17]

I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices; a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens and burning incense upon bricks; who sit in tombs, and spend the night in secret places; who eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; who say, "Keep to yourself, do not come near me, for I am set apart from you." These are a smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all the day. Behold, it is written before me : "I will not keep silent, but I will repay, yea, I will repay into their bosom their iniquities and their fathers' iniquities together, says the LORD; because they burned incense upon the mountains and reviled me upon the hills, I will measure into their bosom payment for their former doings. [Is 65:2-7]

Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool; what is the house which you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest ? All these things my hand has made, and so all these things are made, says the LORD.

But this is the man to whom I will look, he that is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.

He who slaughters an ox is like him who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, like him who breaks a dog's neck; he who presents a cereal offering, like him who offers swine's blood; he who makes a memorial offering of frankincense, like him who blesses an idol.

These have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abomination; I also will choose affliction for them, and bring their fears upon them; because when I called, no one answered, when I spoke they did not listen; but they did what was evil in my eyes, and chose that in which I did not delight. [Is 66:1-4]

Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing evil upon this people, the fruit of their devices, because they have not given heed to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it. To what purpose does frankincense come to me from Sheba, or sweet cane from a distant land ? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing to me. Therefore thus says the LORD : "Behold, I will lay before this people stumbling blocks against which they shall stumble; fathers and sons together, neighbour and friend shall perish." [Jer 6:19-21]

I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and cereal offerings, I will not accept them, and the peace offerings of your fatted beasts, I will not look upon. Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an everflowing stream. [Amos 5:21-24]

For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of GOD, rather than burnt offerings. [Hosea 6:6]

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law, JUSTICE and MERCY and FAITH; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You BLIND GUIDES, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! [Mt 23:23]

HONESTY AND UPRIGHTNESS

Jesus spoke the positive in Golden Rule, "Do onto others what you wish others to do to you." If you want your neighbours to be kind and merciful to you, do so to them; if you want your neighbours to be honest with you, honest with them; ....

Confucius taught us long ago the "negative" of Golden Rule, "Do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you." If you want your neighbours not to treat you harshly and cruelly, do not treat them so; if you do not want your neighbour to lie to you, do not lie to them; ....

LORD GOD plainly taught us not to lie to one another : "You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another." [Lev 19:11]

Jesus taught us : "Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil." [Mt 5:37]

GOD is everlasting TRUTH; Holy Spirit = Spirit of Truth.

Therefore it was why Enoch taught us to be "honest and upright".

A person who loves not honesty - "let your Yes be Yes, and No be No", does not have the SPIRIT OF TRUTH in his/her heart.

LORD GOD once put a liar and his wife to death, see [Acts 5] of the death of Anani'as and his wife Sapphi'ra.

Wu Siu Yan

Re: HONESTY AND UPRIGHTNESS

M: Ananias and Sapphira were doing more than just lying. They were withholding what GOD had given them and making themselves gods. But you are right - it all started with a lie.

W : No. They sold their property and gave "all" the proceeds to Peter ! (though they withheld some money for their own use and pretended that was ALL.)

Even if they did not sell their property, even if they gave none to Peter, it was not sin, nor did they break any laws on that.

Kindly re-read the Bible on that, [Acts 5]

Pow-Pow and Y-O-He-wah (Jehovah)

(Note : this was not what I originally posted. I made changes and additions to my original post.)

When the Indians are doing Pow-Pow dance, they are singing praise to Y-O-He-wah (Jehovah),

The following is taken from the book "View of Hebrews" published in 1823 (2nd edition in 1825),

Doctor Boudinot assures us that he himself attended an Indian religious dance. He says; "They danced one round; and then a second, singing hal-hal-hal, till they finished the round. They then gave us a third round, striking up the words, le-le-le. On the next round, it was the words, lu-lu-lu, dancing with all their might. During the fifth round was sung, yah-yah-yah.--Then all joined in a lively and joyful chorus, and sung halleluyah; dwelling on each syllable with a very long breath, in a most pleasing manner." The Doctor adds; "There could be no deception in all this. The writer was near them -- paid great attention -- and every thing was obvious to the senses. Their pronunciation was very guttural and sonorous; but distinct and clear." How could it be possible that the wild native Americans, in different parts of the continent, should be found singing this phrase of praise to the Great First Cause, or to Jah, -- exclusively Hebrew, without having brought it down by tradition from ancient Israel? The positive testimonies of such men as Boudinot and Adair, are not to be dispensed with nor doubted. They testify what they have seen and heard. And I can conceive of no rational way to account for this Indian song, but that they brought it down from ancient Israel, their ancestors.

.....
.....

The same authors assure us, the Indians make use of the initials of the mysterious name of God, like the tetragrammaton of the ancient Hebrews; or like four radical letters which form the name of Jehovah; as the Indians pronounce thus, Y-O-He-wah. That like the ancient Hebrews, they are cautious of mentioning these together, or at once. They sing and repeat the syllables of this name in their sacred dances thus; Yo-yo, or ho-ho-he-he-wah-wah. Mr. Adair upon the same, says; "After this they begin again; Hal-hal-le-le-lu-lu- yah-yah. And frequently the whole train strike up, hallelu-hallelu-halleluyah-halleluyah." They frequently sing the name of Shilu (Shilo, Christ) with the syllables of the name of God added; thus, "Shilu-yo-Shilu-yo-Shilu- he-Shilu-he-Shilu-wah-Shilu-wah." Thus adding to the name of Shilu, the name of Jehovah by its sacred syllables. Things like these have been found among Indians of different regions of America. Syllables and letters of the name of God have been so transposed in different ways; and so strange and guttural has been the Indian pronunciation, that it seems it took a long time to perceive that these savages were by tradition pronouncing the names of the God of Israel. Often have people been informed, and smiled at the fact, that an Indian, hurt of frightened, usually cries out wah! This is a part of his traditional religion; O Jah! or O Lord!

That book, "View of Hebrews",

http://antimormon.8m.com/esmithindex.html

published in 1823, 1825 (2nd Edition) was very informative. That book gave many examples of people who had lived among the Indians for a long time and who professed that the Indians were of Hebrew origin, from their customs.

About the book "View of Hebrews"

Chapter 1 is a description of the destruction of Jerusalem, and should be a solemn warning to us in this godless age.

Chapter 2 carries the title "THE CERTAIN RESTORATION OF JUDAH AND ISRAEL".

The third chapter, Chapter 3, is the most interesting part. It gave numerous examples proving that the Indians were of Hebrew origin; including archaeological evidences.

Chapter 4 is an appeal to Christians to help the Native Americans.

The author also quoted an example of a find in a grave in Pittsfield, Mass. of phylacteries in a roll of raw hide, sewed with the sinew of an animal, and written on it in Hebrew : [Deut 6:4-9], [Deut 11:13-21] and [Ex 12:11-16],

The Rev. Dr. Griffin, President of Williams College, communicated to the writer, while preparing his first edition of the View of the Hebrews, the following account, with liberty to insert it in his book, if he pleased. The late venerable Dr. Boudinot stated to Dr. Griffin that the Rev. S. Larned (who died in New Orleans) informed him that while he was living in Pittsfield, Mass. -- his native place -- after he left college, there was dug in Pittsfield by one of his neighbors, probably from an Indian grave, some written parchments enclosed in a cover of skins. These parchments he obtained, took them to Boston, had them read, and found them to be the same parchments used in Jewish phylacteries, and well written in Hebrew. Mr. Larned added that he left them with the Rev. Dr. Elliot of Boston. Dr. Boudinot obtained leave of Mr. Larned to send and take them. He sent; but for some reason could not obtain them. Dr. Elliot soon after died; and nothing more was done upon the subject. On receiving this information from Dr. Griffin, the writer wrote to Rev. Dr. Humphrey, then minister of Pittsfield, requesting him to see what further information might be there obtained relative to this matter. He returned an answer. It was just as Mr. Humphrey was about leaving his people for the Presidency of the Amherst College Institution; and he could not pay much attention to the subject. He made considerable inquiry, however; but without much success. But he informed that he had a distant recollection, that when he came to Pittsfield, not long after the said parchments were found, he heard considerable said upon this subject. And he found an impression on his mind, that it was then said that some Jew probably lost these parchments there. The author wrote also to J. Everts, Esq. of Boston, desiring him to see if the parchments could be found. An answer was returned, that they were then in the hands of the Antiquarian Society. He stated also, the same account with that of Mr. Humphrey, that they were suppose to have been left in Pittsfield by some Jew. The writer afterward speaking of this thing to a celebrated minister in the centre of the state of New York, was by him informed that he had heard of the finding of these parchments; but that a Jew from Germany was known to have resided in Pittsfield, and probably lost them. Another supposed the Jews had a custom of burying their phylacteries; which might account for this phenomenon. The public mind had thus laid to rest relative to the parchments. The writer concluded to pay no further attention to the subject. But being advised by one whom he lightly respected, and who apprehended there might be something about this not yet investigated, he took a journey to Pittsfield. With some of the first characters of that town he took pains to ascertain whether any Jew was ever known to have resided or been in Pittsfield? Inquiry was made of different aged people, and who it was thought would be likely to give the most correct information -- one or two had been there from within several years of the first settlement of the place. One and all answered in the negative, that no Jew was ever known in Pittsfield, as they believed, till Rev. Mr. Frey was there a few weeks before. The man was then found who first discovered the parchments under consideration. This was Joseph Merrick, Esq. a highly respectable character in the church of Pittsfield, and in the county, as the minister of the place informed. Mr. Merrick gave the following account; That in 1815, he was levelling some ground under and near an old wood-shed standing on a place of his, situated on Indian Hill, (a place in Pittsfield so called, and lying, as the writer afterward informed, at some distance from the middle of the town where Mr. Merrick is now living.) He ploughed and conveyed away old chips and earth, to some depths, as the surface of the earth appeared uneven. After the work was done, walking over the place, he discovered, near where the earth had been dug the deepest, a kind of black strap, about six inches in length, and one and a half in breadth, and something thicker than a draw leather of a harness, He perceived it had at each end a loop of some hard substance, probably for the purpose of carrying it. He conveyed it into his house, and threw it in an old tool box. He afterward found it thrown out of doors, and again conveyed it to the box. After some time he thought he would examine it. He attempted to cut it, and found it hard as a bone. He succeeded in cutting it open, and found it was formed of pieces of thick raw hide, sewed and made water tight with the sinews of some animal; and in the fold it contained four folded layers of old parchment. These leaves were of a dark yellow, and contained some kind of writing. Some of the neighbors saw and examined them. One of these parchments they tore in pieces; the other three he saved, and delivered them to Mr. Sylvester Larned, a graduate then in town, who took them to Cambridge, and had them examined. They were written in Hebrew with a pen, in plain and intelligible writing. The following is an extract of a letter sent to Mr. Merrick by Mr. Larned, upon this subject.

"Sir; I have examined the parchment manuscripts, which you had the goodness to give me. After sometime and with much difficulty and assistance I have ascertained their meaning, which is as follows; (I have numbered the manuscripts.)

No. 1 is translated by Deut. vi. 4--9 verses inclusive.
No. 2, by Deut. xi. 13--21 verses inclusive.
No. 3, Exod.xii. 11--16 verses inclusive.

I am, &c.

SYLVESTER LARNED.

However, that book "View of Hebrews" could not be fully understood by one who has never studied the Bible.

One thing you should know, that Joseph Smith, founder of Mormon Church, did not publish his "Book of Mormon" until 1930. Book of Mormon is a true history of Mayans for the time period 600 B.C.-420 A.D., translated from a record deposited by the Mayans. I have read it 5 times and have seen numerous TV programs (BBC, National Geographic, ...) of Maya relics that I think that book is true. However, I am not for the Mormon Church, you join it at your own risk.

P.S.

I don't fully agree with the views of the author of the book "View of Hebrews", especially his interpretation of prophecies in the Bible, because trying to interpret prophecies is a wearisome and even dangerous task, as it may lead one into wrong paths. But if a person walks steadfastly in the teachings of LORD and of Jesus, LORD will reveal future things to him/her. One should study the Bible mainly for the teachings of LORD and of Jesus.

LORD GOD exalted Judah in the former days, but in the latter days, He will exalt the tribe of Joseph. The 10 tribes of Israel were lost when King of Assyria destroyed Northern Israel, and before King Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem.

The tribe of Joseph ARE the native Americans (Indians), the remaining Mayans in South America, the Hawaiians, the Polynesians, the Maoris of New Zealand, as well as the aborigines of Australia.

One day they will know that they come from the stock of Israel, from the tribe of Joseph, and they WILL become a righteous people to the model of all the world.

Then the words spoken by LORD in [Jer 31:9] : "... for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born." will be fulfilled.

After that, the remaining lost tribes will be found; and a remnant of them will return to the present day Israel, and establish a kingdom prophesied in the Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 48.

The following is a letter of mine sent to a Christian urging him to read The Book of Mormon,

Dear Mr. XXXXX,

If you take me as a brother, kindly spend a few hours on the First Book of Mormon,

The First Book of Nephi

Nephi was the son of Lehi, and Lehi was an Israelite of the tribe of Joseph. Lehi and his friend, together with their families, fled Jerusalem some years before King Nebuchadnezzar destroyed it.

Nephi recorded down how they left Jerusalem, how they lived 8 years in the Arabia Peninsula, and how they made a ship and set sail to America in the year 592 B.C.

Beside recording down their history, Nephi also recorded down the visions of the coming of Jesus. LORD GOD not only revealed the coming of Jesus to Isaiah, but also revealed to Lehi/Nephi about the coming of Jesus in considerable details.

Book of Mormon has many authors, e.g.

  1. Book of Jacob -- Jacob was another son of Lehi.
  2. Book of Enos -- grandson of Lehi.
  3. Book of Jarom -- great grandson of Lehi.
  4. Book of Omni -- great great grandson of Lehi.
  5. ....

Not all books were written by the descendants of Lehi, some were written by outsiders.

Their history spanned from 600 B.C. to 420 A.D., the year where most Mayans were destroyed by the Indians.

You can browse through all the books inside Book of Mormon at http://www.hti.umich.edu/m/mormon/browse.html

Re: HONESTY AND UPRIGHTNESS

Y : So do you accept the Book of Enoch as scripture?

W : This question is logically flawed. In Logic, there are quantifiers (universal quantifiers ALL, and existential quantifiers THERE EXISTS). Statements without quantifiers are dangerous traps for those who know not logic.

To say that a book is scripture, e.g. the Bible, does it mean

"ALL statements in Bible are universal truths, truths that last to eternity" ?

I have written a webpage on LOGIC, which consists only of 10 pages, 5 pages questions and 5 pages answers. Guaranteed that one can learn logic quickly by working over all the exercises. Guarantee void if one misses out one exercise. The last page of that discusses such logical traps.

Re: HONESTY AND UPRIGHTNESS

The reason why statements without quantifiers are dangerous

The following is taken from my webpage on Logic,

Question : If someone says,

  1. "Security is necessary", or
  2. "Leadership is necessary", or
  3. "Maintaining friendly relation among friendly nations is necessary."

Are these statements correct ?

Answer :

Beware. These are statements without QUANTIFIERS. Suppose quantifier "ALL" is added, they become

  1. All security measures are necessary.
  2. Leadership of all forms under all situations are necessary.
  3. All relations among friendly nations have to be maintained.

If quantifier "There exists" is added, they become,

  1. There exists some security measures that are necessary.
  2. There exists some situations where we should ask directions from leaders.
  3. There exists some relations among friendly nations that have to be maintained.

Many people in China during 1950 ~ 1990's are expert in using these tricks to mislead people.

When encountering "philosophical statements" like these. BEWARE. Each situation has its distinctive features that have to be carefully considered, so as not to break LORD's Laws and that measure is appropriate for that situation.

Consider each case "On Its Individual Merits".

Change of heart only comes from LORD

It was recorded in [1 Samuel 10] that LORD GOD gave Saul a new heart,

When he (Saul) turned his back to leave Samuel, GOD gave him another heart; ... [1 Sam 10:9]

Change of heart may be compared to the change of operating system in a computer, say "Microsoft's Window Operating System" being replaced by "Linux" (or "DOS" being replaced by "Window").

We cannot change our heart by our own effort : no matter how hard we try, say fasting, wearing sackcloth, throwing dust onto ourselves, or even cut ourselves with knife ....

We can only have a change of heart by humbly coming before our Creator, and ask for His mercy.

Our righteousness come from our Creator. Just as we should not boast of our "software" over an elephant, nor should an elephant boasts of its "hardware" over us.

If you think you can create your own righteousness, you can never attain righteousness, just as a computer, without a change of operating system, cannot do certain things.

This is the reason why most Jews could not attain righteousness whereas those outside the "covenant of Abraham" attain righteousness; because they come before GOD with a humble heart and seek the mercy of LORD, but Jews keep LORD away.

LORD : I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite. [Is 57:15]

James : "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." [James 4:6]

Solomon : Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he shows favour. [Proverb 3:34]

Jesus : Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greattest in the kingdom of heaven. [Mt 18:3-4]

On blessing and Curse in [Leviticus 26]

Our body is made up of electrons, atoms, molecules.

The motion of an electron is governed by laws created and designed by LORD.

As for laws, e.g. Pythagoras theorem. It is one of the eternal truths. It will be true even if there is no human. Also Cauchy Goursat Theorem in Complex Analysis, it was true, and is true, and will be true even if there is no human.

How could a person escape the presence of GOD ? And how could a person prosper who acts against the laws created by LORD ? (Newton's Laws of motion, Electromagnetism laws, Quantum mechanics laws, .... together with laws/commandments in the Bible, are all created by LORD).

On the other hand, if one conducts his/her affairs in truth and uprightness, careful to walk in the laws of GOD which is nothing but "faithfulness (keeping promises), mercy, justice", how could one not be blessed ?
