Jesus died at the age of 33,
a tragic death on the cross

Jesus faced persecution, many people sought to destroy him, and finally they succeeded and nailed him to the cross.

Jesus left behind an example, that people should only do what is right in the sight of GOD, even at the peril of death.

POLITICAL SYSTEM (MOSES' VERSION)

LORD's political system is described in "Genesis", "Exodus", ... , "Judges".

Its main features are (1) extremely simple Laws that no addition nor deletion are allowed, (2) Free justice, no lawyer fee nor court fee, (3) Country-wide Moral Education by the Levites. (JUSTICE and MORAL EDUCATION are the two main pillars of LORD's political system.)

At that time, Moses was responsible for the physical well-being of the people (food and water), and administration of justice. (Later he delegated to commanders of 10, commanders of 100, ... to judge trivial cases, and he judged the more difficult cases). His brother, Aaron, was responsible for Moral education of the people. (Moses' own clan - the tribe of Levite was responsible for these two tasks - justice, moral education) [Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers].

There was NO taxation, people's tithe (1/10), which was voluntary, served as their wages.

This political system was DESIGNED by LORD, and it flourished under the Israelites until Saul became king [1 Samuel 8, 9, 10]. Before Saul, there was no king, and Allah was king, and "One Law for All" was the norm. Moreover, elders as well as other people may serve as judges (even female!). (See "The Book of Judges")

Western political system orginated from the Romans. Roman's system was improved upon previous political systems, but mainly from Greek's. Greek's political system was improved upon the Medes/Persian's system originated from King Darius [Book of Daniel], and Medes/Persian's political system was improved upon Babylonian's.

No country uses LORD's political system nowadays, either they use the Roman System, or king system, or ....

But I think LORD's political system is the best, among all political systems.

If you are truly interested in the working of LORD's political system, you should read Old Testament, and you may learn a lot of historical lessons from it.

BLESSING AND CURSE

LORD : "If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them, then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. And your threshing shall last to the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last to the time for sowing; and you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely. And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will remove evil beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land. And you shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. And I will have regard for you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and will confirm my covenant with you. And you shall eat old store long kept, and you shall clear out the old to make way for the new. And I will make my abode among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your GOD, and you shall be my people. I am the LORD your GOD, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; and I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.

But if you will not hearken to me, and will not do all these commandments, if you spurn my statues, and if your soul abhors my ordinances, so that you will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant, I will do this to you : I will appoint over you sudden terror, consumption, and fever that waste the eyes and cause life to pine away. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it; I will set my face against you, and you shall be smitten before your enemies; those who hate you shall rule over you, and you shall flee when none pursues you. And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, then I will chastise you again sevenfold for your sins, and I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like brass; and your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield its increase, and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.

Then if you walk contrary to me, and will not hearken to me, I will bring more plagues upon you, sevenfold as many as your sins. And I will let loose the wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number, so that your ways shall become desolate.

And if by this discipline you are not turned to me, but walk contrary to me, then I also will walk contrary to you, and I myself will smite you sevenfold for your sins. And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute vengeance for the covenant; and if you gather within your cities I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall deliver your bread again by weight; and you shall eat, and not be satisfied.

And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, but walk contrary to me, then I will walk contrary to you in fury, and chastise you myself sevenfold for your sins. You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters. And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and cast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols; and my soul will abhor you. And I will lay your cities waste, and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your pleasing odours. And I will devastate the land, so that your enemies who settle in it shall be astonished at it. And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword after you and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate, while you are in your enemies' land; then the land shall rest, and enjoy its sabbaths. As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, the rest which it had not in your sabbaths. As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, the rest which it had not in your sabbaths when you dwelt upon it. And as for those of you that are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a driven leaf shall put them in flight, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when none pursues. They shall stumble over one another, as if to escape a sword, though none pursues you; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. And those of you that are left shall pine away in your enemies' lands because of their iniquity; and also because of the iniquities of their fathers they shall pine away like them.

But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery which they committed against me, and also in walking contrary tome, so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity; then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Issac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land. But the land shall be left by them, and enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; and they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they spurned my ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes. Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break my covenant with their forefathers, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their GOD : I am the LORD." [Leviticus 26:2-45]

Moses talked about the same thing in [Deuteronomy 28], but I would not quote it here. I put the link below.

Quran said .... Moses said .... (FLOOD)

Quran said that Noah's sons were drowned,

[Sura 11:38-43]

  1. While he was building the ark, whenever some of his people passed by him they laughed at him. He said, "You may be laughing at us, but we are laughing at you, just as you are laughing.

  2. "You will surely find out who will suffer a shameful retribution, and incur an everlasting punishment."

  3. When our judgment came, and the atmosphere boiled over, we said, "Carry on it a pair of each kind,* together with your family, except those who are condemned. Carry with you those who have believed," and only a few have believed with him.

  4. He said, "Come on board. In the name of GOD shall be its sailing, and its mooring. My Lord is Forgiver, Most Merciful."

  5. As it sailed with them in waves like hills, Noah called his son, who was isolated: "O my son, come ride with us; do not be with the disbelievers."

  6. He said, "I will take refuge on top of a hill, to protect me from the water." He said, "Nothing can protect anyone today from GOD's judgment; only those worthy of His mercy (will be saved)." The waves separated them, and he was among those who drowned.

Moses said that Noah, with his three sons (Shem, Ham, Japheth) and their wives, a total of 8 persons were saved in the Ark, [Genesis Chapters 6, 7, 8, or see my previous post, titled "Moses' Account of the Flood"]

WHO WILL BELIEVE IN THE HEREAFTER AND WHO WILL NOT

Jesus : There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, full of sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table; moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried; and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus in his bosom. And he called out, "Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame." But Abraham said, "Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us." And he said, "Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment." But Abraham said, "They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them." And he said, "No, father Abraham; but if some one goes to them from the dead, they will repent." He said to him, "If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if some one should rise from the dead." [Luke 16:19-31]

SLAVE LAWS (MOSES' VERSION)

  1. Management Style USA

A CEO may fire any worker at will, and at short notice. See the massive layoffs of airline workers and hotel workers after September 11.

  2. Management Style Japan (60's)

It is employment for LIFE. Employer provided housing, entertainment, medical/dental care, even "match making", ... for their employees. It is a "miniature welfare system" in its own right.

Moreover, they treated their employees as sons/daughters (family members), and cared for their up-building. They would provide study material, subsidies for tuition, travel subsidies (to broaden their horizon), encourage them to make suggestions (quality circles), ....

Employees are also given generous bonus if the company made money. Thus employees knew that the success of the company was tied to their own welfare.

Short-term profits was not a consideration, they planned for 10 or 20 years ahead.

  3. Management Style Japan Now.

Now (2001) that Japan faces economic difficulties, and companies that are short of money would fire employees. But still, many care for their employees like family members.

  4. LORD's 6 years Contract Employment

LORD : When you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's and he shall go out alone. But if the slave plainly says, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free', then his master shall bring him to GOD, and he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for life. [Exodus 21:1-11]

I have written more on my webpage,

labour.htm

John Adams, one of the forefathers of America, said about the constitution of USA : "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

Similarly, if an employer is unwilling to observe LORD's Laws, slave may undergo terrible experience under his hand.

But if the employer treats his contract employees as "sons/daughters" according to the Laws of LORD, I think LORD's employment system is the best.

Ask the Japanese, whether they are contented to be with those companies that practice "life-long" employment.

MOSES WAS ABLE TO MANAGE 600000 PEOPLE DURING EXODUS

I have written a webpage introducing LORD's Political System.

LORD's political system is that which Moses used during Exodus. At that time, Moses led away 600000 people from Egypt, and journeyed through Sinai Peninsula. It was no small management task, 600000 people !

Why Revisions of the Bible was necessary

The following is extracted from the Preface, "Revised Standard Version" of the Bible, in around the year 1946, one year after the WW II.

........

A major reason for revision of the King James Version, which is valid for both the Old Testament and the New Testament, is the change since 1611 in English usage. Many forms of expression have become archaic, while still generally intelligible -- the use of thou, thee, thy, thine and the verb endings -est and -edst, the verb endings -eth and -th, it came to pass that, whosoever, whatsoever, insomuch that, because that, for that, unto, howbeit, peradventure, holden, aforetime, must needs, would fain, behooved, to you-ward, etc. Other words are obsolete and no longer understood by the common reader. The greatest problem, however, is presented by the English words which are still in constant use but now convey a different meaning from that which they had in 1611 and in the King James Version. These words were once accurate translations of the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures; but now, having changed in meaning, they have become misleading. They no longer say what the King James translators meant them to say.

The King James Version uses the word "let" in the sense of "hinder," "prevent" to mean "precede," "allow" in the sense of "approve," "communicate" for "share," "conversation" for "conduct," "comprehend" for "overcome," "ghost" for "spirit," "wealth" for "well-being," "allege" for "prove," "demand" for "ask," "take no thought" for "be not anxious," "purchase a good degree" for "gain a good standing," etc. The Greek word for "immediately" is translated in the King James Version not only by "immediately" and "straightway" but also by the terms "anon," "by and by," and "presently." There are more than three hundred such English words which are used in the King James Version in a sense substantially different from that which they now convey. It not only does the King James translators no honour, but it is quite unfair to them and to the truth which they understood and expressed, to retain these words which now convey meanings they did not intend.

..........

The Bible is more than a historical document to be preserved. And it is more than a classic of English literature to be cherished and admired. It is a record of God's dealing with men, of God's revelation of Himself and His will. It records the life and work of Him in whom the Word of God became flesh and dwelt among men. The Bible carries its full message, not to those who regard it simply as a heritage of the past or praise its literary style, but to those who read it that they may discern and understand God's Word to men. That Word must not be disguised in phrases that are no longer clear, or hidden under words that have changed or lost their meaning. It must stand forth in language that is direct and plain and meaningful to people today. It is our hope and our earnest prayer that this Revised Standard Version of the Bible may be used by God to speak to men in these momentous times, and to help them to understand and believe and obey His Word.

I have enclosed the full "preface" at the end of this post.

PREFACE

(Preface to the American Revised Standard Version of the Bible, published around 1947)

The Revised Standard Version of the Bible is an authorized revision of the American Standard Version, published in 1901, which was a revision of the King James Version, published in 1611.

The first English version of the Scriptures made by direct translation from the original Hebrew and Greek, and the first to be printed, was the work of William Tyndale. He met bitter opposition. He was accused of wilfully perverting the meaning of the Scriptures, and his New Testaments were ordered to be burned as "untrue translations." He was finally betrayed into the hands of his enemies, and in October 1536, was publicly executed and burned at the stake.

Yet Tyndale's work became the foundation of subsequent English versions, notably those of Coverdale, 1535; Thomas Matthew (probably a pseudonym for John Rogers), 1537; the Great Bible, 1539; the Geneva Bible, 1560; and the Bishops' Bible, 1568. In 1582 a translation of the New Testament, made from the Latin Vulgate by Roman Catholic scholars, was published at Rheims.

The translators who made the King James Version took into account all of these preceding versions; and comparison shows that it owes something to each of them. It kept felicitous phrases and apt expressions, from whatever source, which had stood the test of public usage. It owed most, especially in the New Testament, to Tyndale.

The King James Version had to compete with the Geneva Bible in popular use; but in the end it prevailed, and for more than two and a half centuries no other authorized translation of the Bible into English was made. The King James Version became the "Authorized Version" of the English-speaking peoples.

The King James Version has with good reason been termed "the noblest monument of English prose." Its revisers in 1881 expressed admiration for "its simplicity, its dignity, its power, its happy turns of expression... the music of its cadences, and the felicities of its rhythm." It entered, as no other book has, into the making of the personal character and the public institutions of the English-speaking peoples. We owe to it an incalculable debt.

Yet the King James Version has grave defects. By the middle of the nineteenth century, the development of Biblical studies and the discovery of many manuscripts more ancient than those upon which the King James Version was based, made it manifest that these defects are so many and so serious as to call for revision of the English translation. The task was undertaken, by authority of the Church of England, in 1870. The English Revised Version of the Bible was published in 1881 - 1885; and the American Standard Version, its variant embodying the preferences of the American scholars associated in the work, was published in 1901.

Because of unhappy experience with unauthorized publications in the two decades between 1881 and 1901, which tampered with the text of the English Revised Version in the supposed interest of the American public, the American Standard Version was copyrighted, to protect the text from unauthorized changes. In 1928 this copyright was acquired by the International Council of Religious Education, and thus passed into the ownership of the churches of the United States and Canada which were associated in this Council through their boards of education and publication.

The Council appointed a committee of scholars to have charge of the text of the American Standard Version and to undertake inquiry as to whether further revision was necessary. For more than two years the Committee worked upon the problem of whether or not revision should be undertaken; and if so, what should be its nature and extent. In the end the decision was reached that there is need for a thorough revision of the version of 1901, which will stay as close to the Tyndale-King James tradition as it can in the light of our present knowledge of the Hebrew and Greek texts and their meaning on the one hand, and our present understanding of English on the other.

In 1937 the revision was authorized by Vote of the Council, which directed that the resulting version should "embody the best results of modern scholarship as to the meaning of the Scriptures, and express this meaning in English diction which is designed for use in public and private worship and preserves those qualities which have given to the King James Version a supreme place in English literature."

Thirty-two scholars have served as members of the Committee charged with making the revision, and they have secured the review and counsel of an Advisory Board of fifty representatives of the co- operating denominations. The Committee has worked in two sections, one dealing with the Old Testament and one with the New Testament. Each section has submitted its work to the scrutiny of the members of the other section; and the charter of the Committee requires that all changes be agreed upon by a two-thirds vote of the total membership of the Committee. The Revised Standard Version of the New Testament was published in 1946. The publication of the Revised Standard Version of the Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, was authorized by vote of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. in 1951.

The problem of establishing the correct Hebrew and Aramaic text of the Old Testament is very different from the corresponding problem in the New Testament. For the New Testament we have a large number of Greek manuscripts, preserving many variant forms of the text. Some of them were made only two or three centuries later than the original composition of the books. For the Old Testament only late manuscripts survive, all (with the exception of the Dead Sea texts of Isaiah and Habakkuk and some fragments of other books) based on a standardized form of the text established many centuries after the books were written.

The present revision is based on the consonantal Hebrew and Aramaic text as fixed early in the Christian era and revised by Jewish scholars (the "Masoretes") of the sixth to ninth centuries. The vowel- signs, which were added by the Masoretes, are accepted also in the main, but where a more probable and convincing reading can be obtained by assuming different vowels, this has been done. No notes are given in such cases, because the vowel points are less ancient and reliable than the consonants.

Departures from the consonantal text of the best manuscripts have been made only where it seems clear that errors in copying bad been made before the text was standardized. Most of the corrections adopted are based on the ancient versions (translations into Greek, Aramaic, Syriac, and Latin), which were made before the time of the Masoretic revision and therefore reflect earlier forms of the text. In every such instance a footnote specifies the version or versions from which the correction has been derived, and also gives a translation of the Masoretic Text.

Sometimes it is evident that the text has suffered in transmission, but none of the versions provides a satisfactory restoration. Here we can only follow the best judgment of competent scholars as to the most probable reconstruction of the original text. Such corrections are indicated in the footnotes by the abbreviation Cn, and a translation of the Masoretic Text is added.

The discovery of the meaning of the text, once the best readings have been established, is aided by many new resources for understanding the original languages. Much progress has been made in the historical and comparative study of these languages. A vast quantity of writings in related Semitic languages, some of them only recently discovered, has greatly enlarged our knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar of Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic. Sometimes the present translation will be found to render a Hebrew word in a sense quite different from that of the traditional interpretation. It has not been felt necessary in such cases to attach a footnote, because no change in the text is involved and it may be assumed that the new rendering was not adopted without convincing evidence. The analysis of religious texts from the ancient Near East has made clearer the significance of ideas and practices recorded in the Old Testament. Many difficulties and obscurities, of course, remain. Where the choice between two meanings is particularly difficult or doubtful, we have given an alternative rendering in a footnote. If in the judgment of the Committee the meaning of a passage is quite uncertain or obscure, either because of corruption in the text or because of the inadequacy of our present knowledge of the language, that fact is indicated by a note. It should not be assumed, however, that the Committee was entirely sure or unanimous concerning every rendering not so indicated. To record all minority views was obviously out of the question.

A major departure from the practice of the American Standard Version is the rendering of the Divine Name, the "Tetragrammaton." The American Standard Version used the term "Jehovah"; the King James Version had employed this in four places, but everywhere else, except in three cases where it was employed as part of a proper name, used the English word LORD (or in certain cases GOD printed in capitals. The present revision returns to the procedure of the King James Version, which follows the precedent of the ancient Greek and Latin translators and the long established practice in the reading of the Hebrew scriptures in the Synagogue. While it is almost if not quite certain that the Name was originally pronounced "Yahweh," this pronunciation was not indicated when the Masoretes added vowel signs to the consonantal Hebrew text. To the four consonants YHWH of the Name, which had come to be regarded as too sacred to be pronounced, they attached vowel signs indicating that in its place should be read the Hebrew word Adonai meaning "Lord" (or Elohim meaning "God"). The ancient Greek translators substituted the word Kyrios (LORD) for the Name. The Vulgate likewise used the Latin word Dominus. The form "Jehovah" is of late medieval origin; it is a combination of the consonants of the Divine Name and the vowels attached to it by the Masoretes but belonging to an entirely different word. The sound of Y is represented by J and the sound of W by V, as in Latin. For two reasons the Committee has returned to the more familiar usage of the King James Version : (1) the word "Jehovah" does not accurately represent any form of the Name ever used in Hebrew; and (2) the use of any proper name for the one and only God, as though there were other gods from whom He had to be distinguished, was discontinued in Judaism before the Christian era and is entirely inappropriate for the universal faith of the Christian Church.

The King James Version of the New Testament was based upon a Greek text that was marred by mistakes, containing the accumulated errors of fourteen centuries of manuscript copying. It was essentially the Greek text of the New Testament as edited by Beza, 1589, who closely followed that published by Erasmus, 1516 - 1535, which was based upon a few medieval manuscripts. The earliest and best of the eight manuscripts which Erasmus consulted was from the tenth century, and he made the least use of it because it differed most from the commonly received text; Beza had access to two manuscripts of great value, dating from the fifth and sixth centuries, but he made very little use of them because they differed from the text published by Erasmus.

We now possess many more ancient manuscripts of the New Testament, and are far better equipped to seek to recover the original wording of the Greek text. The evidence for the text of the books of the New Testament is better than for any other ancient book, both in the number of extant manuscripts and in the nearness of the date of some of these manuscripts to the date when the book was originally written.

The revisers in the 1870's had most of the evidence that we now have for the Greek text, though the most ancient of all extant manuscripts of the Greek New Testament were not discovered until 1931. But they lacked the resources which discoveries within the past eighty years have afforded for understanding the vocabulary, grammar and idioms of the Greek New Testament. An amazing body of Greek papyri has been unearthed in Egypt since the 1870's -- private letters, official reports, wills, business accounts, petitions, and other such trivial, everyday recordings of the activities of human beings. In 1895 appeared the first of Adolf Deissmann's studies of these ordinary materials. He proved that many words which had hitherto been assumed to belong to what was called "Biblical Greek" were current in the spoken vernacular of the first century A.D. The New Testament was written in the Koine, the common Greek which was spoken and understood practically everywhere throughout the Roman Empire in the early centuries of the Christian era. This development in the study of New Testament Greek has come since the work on the English Revised Version and the American Standard Version was done, and at many points sheds new light upon the meaning of the Greek text.

The Revised Standard Version of the New Testament was published on February 11, 1946, and has met with wide acceptance. The present republication has afforded the Committee opportunity to review its work and to consider criticisms and suggestions from various readers. As a result, about eighty changes are made in the present edition. Most of these are in the interest of the identical rendering of identical Greek in parallel passages, especially in the synoptic gospels; or in the interest of consistency in handling the textual evidence. The words "sanctify" and "sanctification" have been restored in some passages, to preclude mistaken inferences that had been drawn from their replacement by "consecrate" and "consecration," and to agree with our retention of the term "sanctify" in the Old Testament. Some additional notes offer alternative readings; and in some cases a word or phrase is changed in the interest of greater clarity or felicity. Examples of such changes are in Luke 24:28; John 8:53; 11:50; 17:2; Acts 17:28; 1 Cornthians 4:5; Philippians 1:7; 2 Timothy 3:8; 1 John 3:10.

This preface does not undertake to set forth in detail the lines along which the revision has proceeded. That was done for the New Testament in 1946, in a pamphlet entitled An Introduction to the Revised Standard Version of the New Testament, written by the members of the New Testament Section. It is done for the Old Testament in a similar pamphlet, An Introduction to the Revised Standard Version of the Old Testament, written by members of the Old Testament Section. Both pamphlets are designed to help the general public to understand the main principles which have guided this comprehensive revision of the King James and American Standard versions.

All the reasons which led to the demand for revision of the King James Version in the nineteenth century are still valid, and are even more cogent now than then. We have had a freer charter than our predecessors in the 1870's in that we have not been required, as they were, to limit the language of the English Bible to the vocabulary of the Elizabethan age. But we hope that we have not taken undue advantage of that freedom. The Revised Standard Version is not a new translation in the language of today. It is not a paraphrase which aims at striking idioms. It is a revision which seeks to preserve all that is best in the English Bible as it has been known and used through the years. It is intended for use in public and private worship, not merely for reading and instruction. We have resisted the temptation to use phrases that are merely current usage, and have sought to put the message of the Bible in simple, enduring words that are worthy to stand in the great Tyndale - King James tradition. We are glad to say, with the King James translators: "Truly (good Christian Reader) we never thought from the beginning, that we should need to make a new Translation, nor yet to make of a bad one a good one ... but to make a good one better."

One member said that he was baptized when he was three

All small children who are pure in heart (not yet learn evil), if died, will have eternal life.

Sometimes ago, there was a preacher in Amazon (Brazil), who was shot down in his plane back to USA. His wife and his son died, he survived. Someone asked him if he would be sorrowful because his son died so young. He *smiled* and told his belief in LORD's resurrection of his son.

You MUST baptize again, should you wish to be a Christian. You can do it yourself (by completely immersing yourself in your bathtub if you can find no pool or river) and pray to LORD, (or ask a good Christian to baptize you).

One member said that bad angels were there to test human, therefore those angels couldn't be said to be fallen angels

Dear XXXX,

Do you believe we human have freewill ? Can we decide for ourself whether to do good, or to do evil ?

When you see an ant, is it in your power to kill it ? Are you able to restrain yourself not to kill it ? Are you able to put forward your hand and kill it ?

Are there fallen man ? Are there fallen angels ?

If we do not have freewill, do you think it would be just that GOD judge us in the Judgement Day (before allowing us to the hereafter) ?

Kindly read some Christian literature. As I have written to YYYY, that he would be able to understand Christianity within one week, I propose the same to you. Try to read the following and see if you can master the teachings of Allah within a week. Please start with the "Hymn" first, it can give you a quick start.

WHOM WILL YOU BELIEVE - MOSES OR MOHAMMED ?

  1. Moses said Noah, his 3 sons (Shem, Ham, Japheth) and their wives were all saved in the flood.

Mohammed said the son of Noah was drowned.

  2. Moses' account of "Joseph and the wife of his Egyptian master" is different from that of Mohammed.

  3. Moses' account of his dealings with Pharaoh of Egypt during Exodus is different from that of Mohammed.

  4. Theft Law according to Moses is that thief repay double (e.g. A steals $1000 from B, then if A is caught, A should repay double, i.e. $2000 to B. Amount of fine is directly proportional to the amount one steals.)

Theft Law according to Mohammed is cutting off the hand of thief.

  5. Adultery Law according to Moses (i.e. Both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death) is different from that of Mohammed.

  6. Many Laws in Torah are missing from Quran. GOD explicitly told Moses that no one should add to/delete from the Laws He delivered to Moses on mount Sinai. The Laws as delivered to Moses is FINAL. Mohammed changed many Laws, making the Laws according to Mohammed final.

  7. Moses was born thousands of years BEFORE Jesus. Mohammed was born some 600 years AFTER Jesus.

Whom will you believe ? Moses or Mohammed ?

JESUS IS THE LAST PROPHET, NOT MOHAMMED

In Quran, some "angels" who said that they were friends to LORD/Gabriel/archangels told ALL that

  1. Mohammed was the last prophet. The teachings of Quran (through Mohammed) were final.

  2. Jesus was only a prophet, a messenger, just like other prophets before him.

(My understanding is that Jesus is the Last Prophet, or rather, Jesus is the only Son of GOD, and teachings of Jesus = teachings of LORD. All who adds to/takes away from Jesus' teachings are distorting the teachings of LORD.)

Quran introduced many CONTRADICTORY TEACHINGS, e.g. Son of Noah was drowned, adultery law was changed, laws relating to theft was changed too (cutting off hand of thief instead of repaying double) ...

LDS (= Church of Latter Days Saints) teaches a prophet like Moses exists in all generations. New teachings (or even contradictory teachings to the Bible) may come from the mouth of all of them. Every Mormon is supposed to listen to that prophet much as every Israelite of old listened to Moses.

Both Joseph Smith and Brigham Young (2nd President after Joseph Smith) introduced many contradictory teachings to the Bible (e.g. polygamy).

Jesus is the final prophet, any teachings contradictory to Jesus' are not acceptable.

Jesus is actually the Almighty GOD condescending to Earth in human form to teach us (for GOD will not die, why needs He a son? ), as no one can do the miracles Jesus did other than the Almighty GOD.

QUESTION OF CREATION

TRUTH creates everything (the trees, fish, birds, insects, stars, ....).

LORD is TRUTH. What is TRUTH ? e.g. Pythagoras theorem, it will remain true even when there is no human. So are other theorems in Analytic Geometry, in Real or Complex Analysis (Maths), ... They are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. They remain true even if there is no human.

TRUTH governs every aspect of our life. If you throw an apple up, it will come down according to Law of Gravity. So is the trajectory of a space-ship that travels in space, it is still governed by Law of Gravity. Our every action/movement is governed by Mechanical Laws, and many phenomena are governed by Maxwell's Electromagnetic Laws. The working of your computer, the screen you are seeing now, are all governed by Electromagnetic Laws, and so they function.

Who designed all those Laws? LORD did.

LORD, as TRUTH, is ever present. There is nothing that we do that can be hidden from His knowledge. Also there is nothing that we do are not fulfilled by Him.

PALMISTRY, DREAMS

(Note : some member said that he has done a some palmistry, and the following is my post.)

When I was young, I too studied books on Palmistry - understand the characteristics/future of a person by the reading of lines on his/her hands! But later in my life, I know it is wrong and it is a waste of my time and energy that I no longer do such things. (We can know a person better by his "weight/height/manner/face/talk/dress/..." than by looking into the lines of his hand! )

LORD teaches us that there is NO FORTUNE NOR DESTINY.

Moreover LORD teaches us

KEEP THE LAW => BLESSING
BREAK THE LAW => CURSE

What will happen to us in the future depends on what we do now.

Therefore if we work hard, study hard, kind to our neighbours, and keep the Laws and Commandments of LORD (e.g. no stealing, no adultery, no homosexuality, no oppressing the orphan/widow, no slandering, no false dealing but honest in all things, .... ), we will be blessed.

On the other hand, if we break LORD's Laws, the lines on our hand cannot save us, as there is no DESTINY, and we will be cursed by LORD - accidents, sickness, failures, troubles, unease of mind, acute sense of emptiness, unsure of our future, no peace of mind, ....

Moreover "witchcraft, medium, wizardry, augury, ...." ARE ALL PUNISHABLE BY DEATH ACCORDING TO LAWS OF LORD THROUGH MOSES. (Click below to understand the Law of LORD), therefore we should abstain from such. Moreover, all these are controlled by DEMONS, and we human should have nothing to do with demons - demons are extremely treacherous and demons can use many means to lead us break LORD's Laws, and hence curse will fall on us if we follow demons.

COMMUNISM

Communism makes many good promises. But the persons in the highest echelon are for POWER, and the things that come from power - wealth and sex privileges (the communists practice "consented sex" - if two comrades agree to have sex, they may do so. But as communism is organized like a pyramid, girls in the lower echelon usually dare not refuse sex advances by those in the upper echelon. Moreover, those in the lower rank MUST obey orders, even if that is against their conscience, which is different from LORD's Rule of Law - Freedom to all who do not break the Law.)

Moreover communists walk in the DARK, whereas LORD teaches us to walk in the LIGHT - every act of us should be open for all to see, no hidden evils. LORD even demands us to have no evil in our heart, our heart should be as pure as a child.

Lee Kuan-Yew of Singapore had plenty of experiences with communists, and you may know such by reading his books

  1. The Singapore Story
  2. From Third World to First World
  3. Collected Speeches of Lee Kuan-Yew on politics for the past 30 years
(this last book is in Chinese! I don't know if English Translation is available.)

Communism is a form of SECRET ALLIANCE.

What is SECRET ALLIANCE ?

Secret Alliance usually originates from one person (or a group of persons) who lusts for power. Members who join Secret Alliance must swear an Oath of Silence, they must not betray the secrets to outsiders, or else they lose their lifes. They are highly organized and they protect one another right or wrong, not only minor crimes, but up to murders.

They share power, wealth together. It is the "They-Us precept" and not LORD's "One Law for All" precept.

They would resort to murder to achieve their purposes. Mr. Lee talked about the Communist Party in Singapore in the 60's : "If you oppose them, they will fix you. When they fix you, they shoot you!".

SECRET ALLIANCE IS THE MOST ABOMINABLE SIN IN THE SIGHT OF LORD, BECAUSE THEY FORGET ENTIRELY THE LAWS AND COMMANDMENTS OF LORD.

LORD WILL DESTROY ALL WHO JOIN THE SECRET ALLIANCE, IF THEY DO NOT REPENT.

XXXX - are you sure the spirit that spoke to you was from LORD ?

There are angels in this world, both good and bad, (since angels have freewill). They can all speak to mankind.

Are you sure the one who spoke to you was from LORD ?

A person who was responsible for a Church in Singapore had dreams. In the dream, someone claimed to be from LORD told him to fire the preacher. He obeyed and got a new preacher. Again, he dreamed and was told to fire him too. He obeyed too. But this went on, and he became suspicious and discussed with his friends. He then knew he was tricked.

I heard spirits' voices too, and they all claimed to be the Holy Ghost. I never believe such and I use 2 criteria to test

  1. Jesus : "You will know them by their fruits." [Matthew 7:15-18]

  2. Jesus : "He who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber." [John 10:1]
(i.e. LORD would always use lawful and right means to do things. Anything not lawful nor right nor exposable to light would usually be from demons).

I once asked a preacher in Hong Kong : "Suppose some spirit speaks to you, and claims himself to be the Holy Ghost, would you believe what he tells you ? "

He replied that

  1. Is that teaching contrary to Bible teachings ?

  2. Is your spirit troubled because of that teaching ? (those who really walk Jesus' teachings will feel unease over strange teachings, just as many early Mormons felt unease over "celestial marriage", or polygamy.)

  3. Consult with your fellow brothers and sisters of Christ.

Joseph Smith introduced polygamy. Why did he introduce polygamy ? Because he saw an angel and the angel plainly told him to do that or else would kill him. (Hence Joseph Smith married many young Mormons secretly.)

Nicolaus, one of the seven chosen by Peter and the first Church, [Acts 6:5], introduced "free love" (i.e. free sex), and those who followed him are called "Nicolaitans" [Revelation 2:15]. The Nicolaitans claimed that Nicolaus had received a revelation from God to practice "free love."

We believe that BIBLE is the true words of LORD, and teachings of Jesus = teachings of LORD. And their teachings in the Bible is the PLUMMET that every human teachings must be measured with to be accepted. (Therefore "free love" etc. which is in direct contradiction to "You shall not commit adultery" can never be accepted.)

The reason I ask you this is that I saw you put the link of a porn site after your name in your earlier posts! (in a highly religious talk-group consisting of Christians and Muslims.) Therefore I become suspicious.

Bible and Quran cannot both be true at the same time

The following is my response when one member said that he believed the words told him in a trance, that both Quran and Bible were true.

XXXX,

You MUST exercise your own judgment in all things before acceptance.

Don't take words in a trance as TRUTH.

You should read the Quran from cover to cover, as well as the Bible from cover to cover, and if possible, other books of worth (e.g. Books of Enoch 1, Books of Enoch 2), then form the judgment yourself.

It is right that you set up a talk-group for Christians and Muslims to discuss things out. You can form better judgment if two sides present their respective arguments/reasons.

Could

  1. all the sons of Noah and their wives were saved in the flood

  2. son of Noah was/were drowned

be both TRUE at the same time?

Could 2 theft laws

  1. thief repay double to the victim. i.e. steal $100, repay $200. Fine is directly proportional to the offence. The more you steal, the more you will be fined. For the victim, the more one suffers, the more one will be recompensed.

  2. cut off hand of thief

be both valid at the same time?

There are many discrepancies between Bible and Quran, the most important difference is the attitude towards honesty and uprightness.

LORD demands absolute honesty and uprightness in the Bible. (Let your Yes be Yes, and No be No, anything more than this comes from evil. [Matthew 5:37])

Quran diluted this, and accepts oath (Jesus strictly taught us that we should not use oath to assert that we are honest, but speak the TRUTH at all times. [Matthew 5:33-37])

This is the main obstacles to progress for the Muslims. All scientific work and engineering work demand absolute honesty, and this was why England, Europe, US excelled in science and engineering in the 18th century.

The Muslims were Christians, but misled by Mohammed. Much like the Mormons are Christians, misled by Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith claimed the book he wrote ("Doctrine and Covenants") was revelations from GOD. "Doctrine and Covenants" contains teachings contrary to Bible teachings, much like Quran contains teachings contrary to Bible teachings.

Joseph Smith as well as Brigham Young (2nd President of the Mormons after Joseph Smith) ruled with terror. There was a secret army under Joseph Smith, called "Danites", (another name "destroying-angels"), and under Brigham Young, this "Danties" would kill any who dared to oppose Brigham Young (please read the autobiography of John D. Lee, who was executed for his part in "Mount Meadow Massacre" - massacre of Mormons by the hand of American Indians when they were migrating towards Utah. John D. Lee held very high position among the "Danites". The "Danites" all swore an Oath of Silence - they were never to disclose the secret or else be put to death. They never talked and all carried the secrets to their graves. John D. Lee talked only after Brigham Young betrayed him, and knew he was to be executed. Even today, very few Mormons know the existence of "Danites".)

I think Mohammed ruled with terror too. It is even true today, that one member in this group said he dared not speak out because 1/3 of his school were Muslims.

History of the Mormon Church, by John Whitmer

Reasons why I think Muslims were Christians

Question : Who was the main person responsible for converting the Christian countries of the West ?

Answer : It was Paul. Paul was not among the 12 disciples of Jesus, but Paul was a person of "intense love - steadfast love". His letters made up a large part of New Testament of the Bible.

Question : How about the other disciples of Jesus, (Jesus had 12 disciples - Peter, James, James(2), John, Philip, Thomas, Simon, Andrew, Matthew, Thaddaeus, Bartholomew, and Judas who betrayed him), did they convert any to Christianity ?

The Bible gave little information.

But they did convert many - those of the Muslims countries (my personal conclusion).

Paul preached along the Mediterranean coasts, Jesus disciples preached in Jerusalem, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, ....

From Quran, it can be seen that people in the 600's, in the Arabia Peninsula, already had knowledge of Mary, Jesus, Moses, ..... They would not have had knowledge of Mary and Jesus had there been no Christian preachers among them.

But Mohammed changed all that. Quran made many **SMALL** changes to the Torah, but added something that appealed to the Arabians - hospitality to strangers. Quran "diluted, distorted" teachings of the Bible, but not changed it completely.

Therefore if one is to read ONLY portions of Quran, most people only do that, Quran is VERY GOOD. For example - Worship only the Almighty GOD; Our life here is temporal, we should live a righteous life here to enter the hereafter; Graciousness to the poor/needy; Hospitality to strangers; Fair and just dealing .....

But if one is to read Quran from cover to cover, he/she would sure find the spirit in it troubling, because it comes from a crafty, deceitful spirit, not from an honest, upright spirit. If you do not believe me, try to read it cover to cover yourself ! Moreover, one will find many teachings in Torah missing - even the 10 Commandments of LORD are missing. Also, teachings of Jesus were excluded, yet Quran acknowledges Jesus to be a prophet.

Therefore, I appeal to Muslims, Awake ! Awake ! YOU ARE Christians misled, and you should read the teachings of Jesus, because Jesus WAS GOD CONDESCENDING TO EARTH TO TEACH US, AND TEACHINGS OF JESUS = TEACHINGS OF LORD. If you read not Jesus' teachings, and do not Jesus' teachings, you WILL HAVE NO PLACE IN THE HEREAFTER.

Moreover, you should read the Laws and Commandments of LORD (Torah).

Danger of practicing Witchcraft, Wizardry, Palmistry, ...

One member said that palmistry could really foretell thing, and so he practised that. The following is my response,

Hi XXXX,

All angels, whether they are good or bad, have IMMENSE power. Then why can't they arrange somethings to happen in the future?

GOD and His angels can arrange things to happen in the future too. Life is never a CHANCE process. If you keep the Laws, LORD and His angels will arrange good for you. If you break the Laws, LORD and His angels will arrange evil/calamities for you.

This is true for a country too. If people in a country break LORD's Laws, LORD will arrange famine, invasions, ... for that country (just look at Afghanistan).

In the Bible, it was recorded that there was a girl possessed by demons, and she was able to foretell thing to earn much money.

Also, it was recorded that some magicians in Egypt could change a rod into a snake!

It is not a question of whether "witchcraft, wizardry" will work or not. They WILL WORK because devils are behind them.

People who keep LORD's Laws are protected by angels, and would not be afraid of witchcraft, wizardry. But if you voluntarily engage yourself in "palmistry, witchcraft, wizardry, or the like", you are making friends with demons/devils, and LORD and His angels will never protect you, and you are at the mercy of the demons, and your fate will be terrible.

Moreover, as I have told you before, such acts, "witchcraft, wizardry, palmistry, augury, medium, ..." are punishable by death according to Laws of LORD. Then not only the demons/devils will play you like a toy, LORD and His angels will be hot pursuing you with curses too.

Now, I have made it plain that "Keep the Laws => Blessing; Break the Laws => Curse"
and such "palmistry, wizardry, witchcraft, augury, ... " are all Law-breaking acts (much like adultery, murder, stealing, ....)

If you continue to practise such, and not listen to my warning, I am free of your blood and I will have nothing to do with you. I will never befriend with one who befriends with demons/devils. I will only befriend with people who keep the Laws and Commandments of LORD.

"Mercy" in Bible Vs.
"Mercy" in Quran

  1. "Mercy" in Bible

"Mercy" in Bible means "kindness, compassion, graciousness" to the unfortunate, e.g. orphan, widow, poor, needy, afflicted, sick, in prison, ...

We put ourselves in their shoes and extend material help to them, and comfort them with words to assuage their suffering.

Jesus : "Do onto others what you wish others to do onto you."

  2. "Mercy" in Quran

It means letting the sinner go!

Therefore one may lie and would be let go in the name of "mercy".

One may commit adultery and would be let go in the name of "mercy".

Therefore one of the qualities of the name of LORD- "jealous against evil/iniquities" is completely changed. (Note : "hate evil", NOT "hate evil people".)

  3. "Mercy" in Buddhist teachings is the same as "Mercy" in Bible, though not as strong as that in the Bible - "feed the hungry, house the homeless, visit the sick, visit those imprisoned".

Wu Siu Yan

"Integrity" in Bible Vs.
"Integrity" in Secret Alliance

  1. "Integrity" in Bible means "honesty", "soundness in character", "wholesome" - those qualities pertaining to a decent/godly person.

  2. "Integrity" in Secret Alliance means NEVER BETRAY YOUR COMRADES, NEVER BETRAY THE SECRET OF THE ORGANIZATION!

Therefore they would never tell the truth nor testify in court should some of their comrades be caught in crimes/evil acts.

They would never reveal the secrets of the organization to outsider, or to press reporter, .... and would ALL carry their secrets to their graves.

    They consider this "integrity".

Wu Siu Yan

P.S. 1 :

This is irrelevant to Christian-Muslim discussion, but as I have posted "Mercy in Bible" Vs. "Mercy in Quran", therefore I quote another precept of Bible distorted.

P.S. 2: Secret Alliance

Mr. Lee Kuan-Yew of Singapore talked about the Communist Party in Singapore in the 60's : "If you oppose them, they will fix you. When they fix you, they shoot you!". Please read [Book of Daniel, Old Testament, Chapter 7] for LORD's revelation on this.)

"Historical Lessons" in Bible Vs.
"Historical Lessons" in Quran

  1. "Historical Lessons" in Bible

Bible contains the history of the Israel nation, from Abraham to some 30 years after Jesus (though the record for some period are scanty.)

It records the rise and fall of kings, battles, the rise and fall of Babylonian empire, and the rise of Persia/Media empire.

The Israelites use the "Bible" as their military manual, because there were so many battles recorded in the Bible that they many learn from.

  2. "Historical Lessons" in Quran

None. All are some distorted teachings of LORD repeated again and again.

Fate of Islamic Countries, of Muslims

The early Muslims were Christians, those from the best tradition from Peter, James, Philip, Andrew, Matthew, .... (the disciples of Jesus).

Therefore their tradition perseveres, generation after generation. Even today, one can find the image of "Peter, James, Philip, ..." in some Muslims, though few in number. Bin Laden is one who carries with him some such image!

Because of this "tradition" and also people would read only "part" of the Quran, not all, the Muslim societies would generally be stable.

But the Laws in Quran makes changes to those in "Torah", especially the "Theft Law", there are many short-comings in Quran's Laws (complexity is one, compared with the simplicity of LORD's Laws).

(e.g. if one steals $1, his hand would be cut off. But if one steals $100 billion, his hand would be cut off. Is this justice ? Would you cut off the hand of your classmate because he steals your pencil ? Would you cut off the hand of your neighbour who steals your potatoes because he is poor ? Mostly only the poor would steal, and if you cut off his hand, how could he earn his living with only one hand ?

In "Torah", punishment is directly proportional to crime: repay double to victim. Moreover, if one is poor and steals, and has no money to repay, he would be sold as "slaves", and "slaves" in "Torah" is "contract work for 6 years", not the American's style of slavery. Thus he is secured for work and housing for 6 years. This is much more humane.)

Because of this deficiency in Justice, Muslim country could be stable should there be no wars, no natural disaster. But should there be wars, famine, and the social order be disrupted, murders and shedding of innocent blood would be common, among other minor crimes (Note : "shedding of innocent blood" is an extremely serious offence in "Torah", LORD might destroy the whole country because of this). The reason - they do not have "Ten Commandments" and other commandments to bridle wild behaviour.

Today is the year 2002, when the knowledge of human is quite advanced (e.g. Knowledge in Maths, in Science, in Engineering, .... , is quite advanced), LORD would demand the more.

The slovenly attitude of Muslims (e.g. oath, apathy to evil in the name of Quran's "mercy", lack of uprightness) are NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE TODAY.

Therefore Muslims MUST learn and keep the Laws and Commandments of LORD, and live by its standard.

Should they not do so, they would be oppressed year after year, by those strong countries who can send "cruise missiles/bombers" to bomb them from thousands of miles away, until they realize that LORD can no longer accept their standard, and that they MUST return and uphold the standard of LORD and of Jesus.

Nowadays, Internet is common. Muslims should read "Torah" (the first 5 books of Moses in Old Testament) and live by them (the moral part, not the ritual part, which are no longer needed because "Jesus" was "sacrificed".) Also they should read the teachings of Jesus (because Jesus is GOD condescending on Earth in human form).

They have no excuse if they do not do this. The Bible is everywhere, the internet is everywhere.

When they fully return to LORD, and keep LORD's standard ("Torah"), and Jesus' teachings ( = LORD's teachings), LORD would be merciful to them, and deliver them from their strong adversaries.

If they do not, they would be oppressed and oppressed, and struggle in vain. More struggle would only bring more oppression onto them.

Keeping the Laws is simple

If you truly believe Jesus as the Son of LORD (a duplicate of LORD created by LORD to send down to earth) and repent of your past wrongs, you WILL be given a new heart, a new spirit. Promised by LORD.

This is grace, no work needed. And you will be able to fulfil LORD's Laws - all the requirements in "Torah" (the Moral part, not ritual part, the ritual part are not needed now because Jesus was "sacrificed") and you will be able to keep the Laws and Commandments of LORD, and not break them.

But if you trust Quran's teachings "bowing down to Mecca", "washing your hand and feet", "fast" .... to attain salvation to hereafter, you will NEVER attain it. The "software" inside you is still the "software from Adam", not the "software" of Jesus.

Quran is from Mohammed, not from Almighty LORD. LORD no longer tolerates Quran now.

Do not listen to the Christians nowadays : they say "salvation is grace, not work" and so they forget LORD's Laws, and do as their heart desire, totally unrestrained.

When they receive their due punishment, they will know that LORD rules the universe with His Laws. Moreover, punishment of believers is heavier than punishment of non-believers.

Therefore keep LORD's LAWS and Commandments, and Jesus' teachings, and you can, because you will be given a new heart, a new "software", (if you believe Jesus as the only Son of GOD), but still you have to keep them diligently.

LORD will deliver us into the hand of evil men, moreover, LORD would pursue us with evil, if we break LORD's Laws

XXXX,

A policeman may see a person being harassed, or bullied, or attacked by a group of persons, and if the policeman knows that the man is evil, the policeman may not help him.

This is the same for us. If we break LORD's Laws, LORD would not help us, and deliver us into the hands of evil men/demons/devils. And we become helpless in the hands of cruel and ruthless persons.

Worse still, LORD and His Angels would arrange evil for us themselves.

Bible contains 66 "small books", which includes the history of Israel, from Abraham onto some 50 years A.D. You can learn a lot about LORD's dealings with men from this history.

Do to others what you wish others to do to you

The above is the "Golden Rule", the most famous teaching of Jesus.

Confucius has a similar teaching : "Do NOT to others what you DO NOT want others to do to you."

When one is being mal-treated and humiliated, either

  1. I hate being treated this way, I know how bad it hurts me, therefore I will never do it to others, lest they suffer the pain as I do.

  2. I know how bad it hurts me, therefore I will learn that and apply it to other people to make them feel bad.

Which will incur curse from LORD ? which will bring blessing from LORD ?

Wu Siu Yan

(P.S. "XXXX", did someone treat you badly that you were hurt and so you did the same to me, e.g. banning me or accusing me of many things ?)

Do I like being lectured ?

"XXXX" thought that I dislike being lectured.

No. I like listening to lectures. When I was in University of Hong Kong, there were occasionally visiting scholars, visiting research workers, .... and mostly they would give lectures free. I attended those as far as I could.

Outside commercial organizations would charge high fees for attending classes, then why should I not attend lectures when it were free ?

Would I feel angry (or humiliated) when being lectured on a topic I already know ?

No. I take it as a chance to revise the things I already know. I would thank the person for his time and effort to lecture me.

Jesus : "Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." [Matthew 18:2-4]

Wu Siu Yan

(P.S. "XXXX", show your courage by using your real name. Everyone here uses real name, except you. No one will hurt you unless you break the Laws of LORD. You may be harassed by your Muslim neighbours but this will be blessing in disguise to enable you to learn more, should there be harassment. Also, if you "lecture" me here and if it is of substance, I will listen.)

The following is my post to Christian-Muslim talkgroup, because some Christians there said that they did not believe the flood, and Jesus = GOD, the holy trinity precept

LOGIC

I think children of the age of 10 or so should be taught LOGIC. Mathematics is considered a basic training for educated people, and I think LOGIC should be one too.

LOGIC is not difficult, a 10 years old can easily master it.

Those who know logical deduction, logical inferences, could easily see,

  1. "I do not believe in Noah's flood" =>
    "Moses is a liar",

because Moses said there was a flood in his book "Genesis".

  2. Someone who believes that "GOD = Jesus" =>
( "Jesus was a liar, because Jesus said that he was the Son of GOD",
    OR,
    "Father = Son".)

Your mind must not be so illogical as cannot see this.

The following is my post to Christian-Muslim talkgroup, because one member thought that he knew more because he has read a lot of books on Islam (but he did not read Quran cover to cover), but I have read Quran from cover to cover, and did not read other books about Islam.

The following is my response.

Direct Source Vs. Secondary Source

During World War II, there was an intelligence officer under Winston Churchill. The work of him was to distil the reports from Europe, and make a summary to Churchill.

Churchill would not have this. He insisted that the officer pass him all the original pieces of information, and let him read them himself.

When Churchill read that the Germans transported all their tanks back to Germany (by rail), after their march into Hungary and Yugoslavia to subdue resistance, he immediately knew that the Germans were to invade Russia (the Germans would have left their tanks in Hungary etc. if they had no immediate need of them.) He telegraphed Stalin, yet Stalin believed him not, and thus suffered terribly when German surprised him in a sudden offensive.

I too, favour direct source and not secondary source. Therefore, when I read book, I choose to read books by "masters", e.g. "Serge Lang, Richard Courant, .... " in Maths. When I read book on Structural Analysis and Elasticity, I seek the books by "Timoshenko" - the topmost master in this field.

If I read books by others, who themselves learn from the masters, or from students of masters, I would be at a disadvantage. Therefore I learn direct from the masters.

Now I ask you a question :

  1. If you were to learn about the History of World War II, would you choose to read Churchill's memoir, "The Second World War", (who was prime minister and directed the war personally), OR

  2. read a book written by a General OR

  3. read a book written by a soldier OR

  4. read a book by one who has never fought the war, or was born many years after the War ??

I have read Churchill's 12 paperbacks of "The Second World War". You may try the direct source, or secondary source, and find out which will tell you more.

Next, I ask you, if you were to learn Confucianisum, which will give you more information

  1. read direct the book written by Confucius, "Analect of Confucius"

  2. or read the multitude of books on Confucianism.

Also, if you were to learn about Christianity,

  1. read the Bible direct OR

  2. read the many books discussing Christianity ?

Or, if you were to learn about Islam

  1. read the Quran direct, the direct words from Mohammed, OR

  2. read books by others discussing Islam (Has the author read the whole Quran himself ?)

Please try both approaches, and arrive at your own conclusion.

I shy away from direct confrontation in discussion, because I think if we are proud, we will fall, and fall into the traps by demons.

The following is my post to Christian-Muslim talkgroup,

DISCUSSION VS. QUARRELS

When I was young, I learned that I just couldn't convince a person by arguments, especially when my heart was lifted up in pride (i.e. "my argument is so superb that I could surely beat you down, making your speechless" kind of thought.) Such arguments would usually end in quarrels, if not fights. (ego Vs. ego = quarrel)

Also, I learn that "time" is an important factor. After some months, or some years, when the other person has gained more experience, it might be possible to convince him then.

Therefore I shy away from ">", ">>", ">>>", ">>>>", ">>>>>", ..... kind of discussion. I prefer topic by topic type of postings.

In academic journals, scientists and engineers would discuss things. They use the topic by topic type. Each posts his/her own view, supported by evidences and reasonings, and let others to judge and to post follow-ups. Each post is an independent essay by itself. This is the type of posting I prefer to use.

The Main Theme in the Bible Vs. The Main Theme in Quran

(A) Main Theme of the Bible

Bible may be said to be the history book of Israel.

There is one main theme that permeates throughout the Bible, and it is "Keep the Law => Blessing; Break the Law => Curse".

When the Israelites kept LORD's Laws, they were blessed and they prospered; but when they broke LORD's Laws, they were cursed - famine, invasion, plague, all sort of disasters.

Question : it is too difficult to keep the Laws of GOD to be blessed ?

No. It is extremely easy. Let us listen to what Moses said :

Moses : "For this commandment which I command you this day is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who will go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?' Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who will go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?' But the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it." [Deuteronomy 30:11-14]

It may be compared to download from the Internet. Just a click of a button and you download many softwares free.

If we have a heart for evil : we may download virus software from the Internet, and cause great troubles to others, (and consequently, to ourselves).

But if we have a heart for good : we may download many valuable software free, and we may give it to others as well. (I downloaded many useful programs from the Internet as well as many books, all free, including Quran and Bible.)

Therefore, if we want to be a good person; we simply pray to LORD, and LORD will give us "software" that we can do the good we want. On most occasions, even without our asking, LORD will send the "software" to us free, and without our knowledge.

On the other hand, if we want to do evil, be an wicked person; LORD too would give us "evil software" and we become a beast.

If you truly turn towards Jesus, believing him to be the Only Son of LORD, with 100% likeness of LORD, you will be given a new heart, free. And you can be a good person, and you can keep the Laws and Commandments and be blessed. (Keeping the Law is not burdensome, because LORD is merciful, would never be fault-finding, nor condemn the guiltless.)

Hence the main theme of the Bible is "return to LORD, keep His Laws, and be blessed"; or "depart from LORD, break His Laws, and be cursed".

(B) The Main Theme of Quran is Hereafter.

Quran does not emphasize the precept "Keep the Law => Blessing; Break the Law => Curse"

Quran does not emphasize ALL values of LORD - "kindness, mercy, graciousness, slow to anger, steadfast love, faithfulness, forgiving, jealous against evil/iniquity, justice, honesty, uprightness, humility, meekness, lowliness, righteousness, pure as a child, humble as a child, serving others (wash the feet of others), ... ". It emphasizes only some.

Quran places more emphasize on : fasting, bowing down towards Mecca, washing hands and feet, donation to poor, ... But all these cannot enable us to have a new heart, still the heart inherited from Adam (and Eve).

Which are true teachings of GOD, Bible or Quran, judge it yourself.

True Christian Vs. False Christian

Christian means follower of Christ, or Jesus.

Ask a Christian if he can recite the precepts in "Sermon on the Mount" ? the 10 Commandments ?

They are those who throw away all Laws and Commandments of LORD, and would leave two commandments,

  1. Love your neighbour as yourself,

  2. Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart/mind/soul.

But as

"love Jesus = do the teachings of Jesus",

"love LORD = do the Commandments and Teachings of LORD",

they would reject this too. Also "love thy neighbour" could be burdensome, and so they throw it away too, and leave only "LOVE".

By then, they can do all sort of sinful acts in the name of "love". The Nicolaitans practiced "free love, or free sex" in the name of LOVE. One may even rape a person, kill a person in the name of love, or believing that he/she loves him/her.

The Laws and Commandments of LORD are to stop such behaviour.

But they would say, "I am sure to be saved, because Paul plainly said that salvation was grace, not work".

Yes, the holy spirit, or the Spirit of Truth, is freely given to all who repent and believe Jesus to be the Only Son of GOD. And this does not depend on how many hours of social work, many much money donated to charity, how many days of fast, ....

But it does not mean "free of accountability", nor is it a license to all sorts of unrestrained act, thinking that LORD would not demand an accounting of them because Jesus died for them. LORD will.

But they do not so think, but think that Jesus' redemption is a licence to all unrestrained acts, they would gladly make more proselytes to share their "new discovery of freedom !", totally unrestrained behaviour and no accountability required by LORD!

A Christian said some thousands of years ago,

For it shall come to pass in that day that the churches which are built up, and not unto the Lord, when the one shall say unto the other: Behold, I, I am the Lord's; and the others shall say: I, I am the Lord's; and thus shall every one say that hath built up churches, and not unto the Lord--

And they shall contend one with another; and their priests shall contend one with another, and they shall teach with their learning, and deny the Holy Ghost, which giveth utterance.

And they deny the power of God, the Holy One of Israel; and they say unto the people: Hearken unto us, and hear ye our precept; for behold there is no God today, for the Lord and the Redeemer hath done his work, and he hath given his power unto men;

Behold, hearken ye unto my precept; if they shall say there is a miracle wrought by the hand of the Lord, believe it not; for this day he is not a God of miracles; he hath done his work.

Yea, and there shall be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die; and it shall be well with us.

And there shall also be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry; nevertheless, fear God -- he will justify in committing a little sin; yea, lie a little, take the advantage of one because of his words, dig a pit for thy neighbor; there is no harm in this; and do all these things, for tomorrow we die; and if it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved in the kingdom of God.

Yea, and there shall be many which shall teach after this manner, false and vain and foolish doctrines, and shall be puffed up in their hearts, and shall seek deep to hide their counsels from the Lord; and their works shall be in the dark.

And the blood of the saints shall cry from the ground against them.

Yea, they have all gone out of the way; they have become corrupted.

Because of pride, and because of false teachers, and false doctrine, their churches have become corrupted, and their churches are lifted up; because of pride they are puffed up.

They rob the poor because of their fine sanctuaries; they rob the poor because of their fine clothing; and they persecute the meek and the poor in heart, because in their pride they are puffed up.

They wear stiff necks and high heads; yea, and because of pride, and wickedness, and abominations, and whoredoms, they have all gone astray save it be a few, who are the humble followers of Christ; nevertheless, they are led, that in many instances they do err because they are taught by the precepts of men.

O the wise, and the learned, and the rich, that are puffed up in the pride of their hearts, and all those who preach false doctrines, and all those who commit whoredoms, and pervert the right way of the Lord, wo, wo, wo be unto them, saith the Lord God Almighty, for they shall be thrust down to hell!

Wo unto them that turn aside the just for a thing of naught and revile against that which is good, and say that is of no worth! For the day shall come that the Lord God will speedily visit the inhabitants of the earth; and in that day that they are fully ripe in iniquity they shall perish.

But behold, if the inhabitants of the earth shall repent of their wickedness and abominations they shall not be destroyed, saith the Lord of Hosts.

Christian must stand by the standard of Jesus, of LORD

Jesus said that those who do his teachings will be like one who builds a house on a rock, and fears no storm/wind; but those who listen, but do not do the teachings, will be like one who builds a house on sand, which collapses quickly when faced with wind or storm.

They are those who will be beguiled into wrong paths, yet know not. LORD's "Quality Control" system is much better than the "computerised automatic testing system used in Quality Control" in modern factories. Those who do not do Jesus' teachings MUST and WILL BE beguiled, yet know not.

Many "Christians" will think "Salvation is grace, not work" (twisted its real meaning), and that LORD will not require them to give an account of all their doings in the Judgement Day. False. LORD will demand an accounting.

Jesus is the plummet. Only person who has taken upon himself the name of Jesus (or the qualities of Jesus), i.e. one who acts like Jesus, will be saved. Jesus did only what was right in the sight of LORD even at the peril of death, and held fast LORD's commandments steadfastly.

AGAIN I SAY, JESUS IS THE PLUMMET, CREATED BEFORE LORD CREATED EARTH, BEFORE LORD CREATED HUMAN. LET NO ONE DECEIVE YOU. THOSE WHO ASPIRES TO ENJOY ETERNAL LIFE IN THE HEREAFTER, WHERE ONLY CHILDLIKE GOOD PEOPLE WILL BE GATHERED, MUST BE JESUS-LIKE.

Remember firmly Jesus' teachings : "And if any one will not recieve you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town." [Matthew 10:14]

This may sound cruel. But it is not. For if the other person simply rejects Jesus' teachings, and we, in the desire to save them, may either

  1. We lower our standard. Lower and lower it goes, until our standard falls so far short of LORD's standard that we die,

OR

  1. we weary ourselves to death in an effort to save him/her, while he/she just does not want to live a godly, holy life.

Hence Jesus gave us this teaching.

Moreover Jesus taught us the "parable of sower" [Matthew 13]. The teaching is true.

Therefore, to all those who listen not my words, I have nothing more to do with you, I would shake off any dust of you that clings to me.

"XXXX" repeatedly threatened me to ban me, therefore I think I should leave. And this is my last post.

To those who believe Jesus' teachings and do his teachings, the SPIRIT OF TRUTH will guide you to all truths. And if you keep the Laws and Commandments of LORD (moral part), which you are able to because of the Spirit of Truth in your heart, you will be blessed. Though you may meet various trials and sufferings, you will have the joy and peace of Jesus in your heart. Yet you must endure to the end, like Jesus.

Do not think keeping the Law is burdensome. It is not. LORD considered king David having done no wrong other than the incident of Uriah. One wrong in a man's whole life! LORD is merciful, would not be fault-finding, and would not condemn the guiltless, therefore, you should have firm confidence in Him. Knowing this, we should not have a burdensome feeling in keeping the Laws and Commandments. (Ask yourself : would LORD consider this guilty ?)

When you know you haven't broken LORD's Laws, you will have GREAT confidence, just like a law-abiding citizen who knows the policeman would never arrest him. No matter what philosophical talk others may bombard onto you, no matter how dangerous the outside situation would be, no matter how much temptations are there to lure you, you would still have confidence. This is true only if you hold fast Jesus and LORD's teachings. Those who do not keep the Laws will have no confidence when faced with dangerous, life-threatening situations.

Moreover, you MUST study logic, which is very easy to master, and will give you a clear and logical mind. LORD is TRUTH. Personally, I hope you would study more Mathematics, those Cauchy-Integral Theorem, and the like, in Complex Analysis, etc. They are beautiful truths, and will give you a hint of Who LORD is - the one who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Lastly, I recommend the Book of Mormon to those who listen to me. Though the translator of that book, Joseph Smith, did much wrong, yet that book is a true historical record of Maya people (for the period 600 B.C. to 420 A.D.), as relics filmed by National Geographic, BBC, and other documentaries correlate well with the description in that book. That book contains many small books written by Maya people for that period 600 B.C. to 420 A.D., and the Maya people were from the tribe of Joseph, from Israel. (but do not join Church of Latter-Day-Saints, you join it at your own risk.)

Intent of Heart Sufficient ?

By
Wu Siu Yan
5th Feb 2002

In Quran [Sura 2:225] or [Al-Baqarah 225], it is written

GOD does not hold you responsible for the mere utterance of oaths; He holds you responsible for your innermost intentions. GOD is Forgiver, Clement.

Whereas we should

Intent of Heart
+
Lawful and Right means

And not just

Intent of Heart
+
Any convenient or
even unlawful means

Because Quran teaches "oath" or even making many "oaths" repeatedly to affirm that we are telling the truth, and NOT "Honesty and Uprightness at all times, Yes be Yes, and No be No [Mt 5:37]", and Quran teaches, moreover, that one would not be accountable even for his oath, so long as his innermost intention is good !

LORD gave us His Laws and Commandments, in it LORD taught us what are abominable acts - stealing, homo-sexuality, adultery, lying, false-witnessing, ....

Our "heart" can easily deceive us. A person can commit adultery in the name of "love", may murder in the name of "patriotism" (e.g. several Muslims killed after Sept-11 in USA), may turn a country upside down in the name of "love of country" (e.g. Cultural Revolution in China), may persecute or even kill innocents in the name of "love of GOD", .... [Please read my webpage titled "LOVE ENOUGH ? NO COMMANDMENTS NEEDED ?"]

Therefore we should learn the Laws and Commandments to bridle our behaviour and not be deceived into wrong actions.

Our heart MUST be right PLUS we do that in a Lawful and Right way, using lawful and right means.

NEVER USE INTENT OF HEART AS A MEANS TO DECEIVE YOURSELF AND TO COVER UP YOUR WRONG ACTIONS.

LORD rules the world with His Laws, and He judges the world with His Laws, and Quran is not teaching you what the Almighty desires of you - honesty and uprightness, choose righteousness over our life (model ourself after Jesus who did only what was right in the sight of LORD even at the cost of his life).

Return to LORD, study the Bible which contains NOT only all the teachings of LORD and of Jesus, but also the history of Israel - its multitude of kings and acts, and walk in those teachings.
