The eye is the lamp of the body

Jesus : The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness ! [Mt 6:22]

LORD : You shall not follow a multitude to do evil; nor shall you bear witness in a suit, turning aside after a multitude, so as to pervert justice; nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his suit. [Ex. 23:2-3]

Therefore we should observe carefully, and exercise our own judgement, and do not follow the multitude. (Stand by our conscience and hold fast TRUTH.) We should have "a good eye" - wish the best for our neighbour - that he receives justice, that he lives a peaceful life, that he be blessed, ... , and not "an evil eye", wish the worse for our neighbour - find faults with him, wish for his fall, ....

If we fail to do the above, we cannot see clearly, and will form wrong judgement.

There are other things that may blind our eyes,

LORD : And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the officials, and subverts the cause of those who are in the right. [Ex. 23:8]

When evil people break LORD's Laws, they would usually offer us some "advantages", which may be in the form of money, or the life of our enemy, or ... in order that we may be deceived into believing that they are good people.

If you do not know LORD's Laws, you have no way to discern which are illegal acts in the Law of LORD, and you will be blinded continuously.

Still there are other things that may blind our eyes,

[Hosea 9:7] : The prophet is a fool, the man of the spirit is mad, because of your great iniquity and great hatred.

"Great Hatred" will blind our eyes, as well as "great iniquity" in our part. When "hatred" fills our heart, our reasoning power will be lost. Or when we breaks LORD's Laws and Commandments, and do not see the iniquities in ourself, we would be blinded too.

Timothy McVeigh was a good example. He hated the Federal Government in the Waco/Ruby Ridge incidents. Therefore he was used by crafty men, and bombed the Federal Building, causing the deaths of many innocent people.

(P.S. The founding fathers of America gave high autonomy to the states, whereas the power given to the Federal Government was few and well-defined, e.g. war, peace, negotiation, foreign commerce. The recent trend is that authority is centralized. For those interested, kindly read the March Issue of National Center for Constitutional Studies)
